Why do source rules exist (other than obvious reasons)

Let me preface this by saying that I'm majoring in chemistry at a local college.

I have recently been very interested by the 2c phenethylamine family. The chemical I am most interested in would probably be 2,5-dimethoxy-4-iodophenethylamine (also known as 2c-I).

I have been trying to find a legitimate source for this chemical for ACTUAL research, including only 1 test involving human ingestion (the last one, for obvious reasons).

I have become increasingly annoyed over the past few weeks, scam sites are not very hard to identify and are usually pretty cheap, but that dosent make it any easier to find a real one.

The main question I have though, is Why are we not allowed to discreetly discuss sources, at least in PMs. I noticed that the rules say, we are not allowed to confirm sources, ask for them by post or PM, tell of them by post or PM, etc.

It seems to me that at this rate no one is allowed to even mention anything about they're sources, why. If these compounds are so great, then why dont you people ever trade sources.

It's not even like they're illegal, YES, people have died screwing with derivatives, but many of these chemicals have existed for quite some time. If they were going to be banned don't you think they already would have been.

Some people out there are actually planning on using these for research (what they're supposed to be meant for) and even I (being one of aforementioned people) have problems finding these things, and no one seems to offer any help, only empty promises, or silence.

I'm starting to think (with how hard any ligitement source is to find) that none of the people on this site have even touched any 2c compound. It seems likely that everyone here is just supposing and lying.

In closing (restating question), why are there such strict rules on speaking of sources?
(It seems too tight, even PMs are restricted, dosent it strike you as a bit over paranoid to be quite this protective?)

Sometimes words have double meaning.

Think about what is legal and illegal to have and to do.

Remember the sources are mostly for research chemicals which most likely are psychoactive in humans, this creates some tension.

That's what I've learned since I've been here, and it's funny this is your first post, but this should give you plenty of insight and should answer your question.

Sources that got big were the sources that went down and that means that sharing sources should not be easy, simple, or open.
