cant say i've ever seen a buddhist "denounce" christianity, or a hindi, or a wiccan, or a ______.... but yet, i've seen so many christians (on the internet and in person) say that all of those religions are in fact "satanistic" religions. just google "(name of religion here) satan"
Well, I'm a member of a Southern Baptist church... always had respect for Buddhism, but it's moreso a philosophy than a religion, to me. Hinduism was corrupt because of their caste systems. Every religion and most things have their drawbacks... but I don't look at the religions as a whole, I look at the people within them. Everyone has good intentions somewhere within. IRA Protestants in Northern Ireland or some of the Shi'ite extremists... to USSR communists. That's why you have seperation of Church and state. If you look back in history, it's forced religion that has driven the world to where it is. Islam started because of forced Roman Cathalicism, Buddhism started because of Caste-corruption, and you have priests in Cathalicism that.. I don't even have to go there. The Acadians came to the US because they were going to have to give up their Catholic religion. Church of England, Puritans, Quakers, the Amish, etc. It's not the religion, it's often the outliers within and without.
I would say because Christianity is the most popular belief in the world... But, go into some second world countries, like the Middle East, you'll notice most are Muslims. They denounce anyone that isn't a Muslim. You can't get into the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia if you aren't a Muslim. They have seperate highways for Muslims and non-Muslims there as well. Infact, you have to have an ID saying you are a Muslim. But, yea, Baptists (not Southern Baptists) do it a lot here. The most we here in America is Christians fighting other religions. But even the Bible has people denouncing Christianity. Hence why Jesus was killed. He didn't believe the way they (the Jews) did.
Islam was somewhat of a revolt... Uh... then if you want to talk latter, latter day... Joseph Smith. (More of a cult than a religion, but they banned polygamy in Utah, though I still wonder if there are people hiding in the mountains of Utah/Arizona that still get away with it) But, Baptist and Southern Baptist is quite different, in my opinion. I like black churches, too.
I dont like saying I'm christian because of the nasty cliche thoughts that come along with it.......I think christianity is so misunderstood and has been bastardized and pissed on by time. I hate it when people say if you dont beleive that Jesus Christ is the one and only savior you're going to hell. What baout the honest good hearted, pure people that dont beleive that? Are they going to hell jsut because of that one simple fact? Its fucked up. People are stupid. Notice them when you out in public, they're everywhere like germs. Like Mr George says Buddhism is more of a philosiphy. I've been really into buddhism lately, nbotice my new band, eight fold path (if you know a little about buddhism you get the significance). I think the reasons Christians attack other religions is that a lot of htem are jsut ignorant (look at our president). For some reasons which I dont feel like typig bouat because I'm getting tired of typing die-hard religious people tend to spread ignorance and hate even if it contradicts the principle beleifs of their reigion.
so did bush 1. whiskey 2. cocaine 3. golf 4. jesus 5. cadillac 6. ranch 7. football 8. light beer 9. iraq 10. Bin Laidyn 11. balls of every conservative christian 12. weapons of mass penis reduction
Christianity and Islam are the same to me... belief-wise, Islam is the more peaceful of the two eh... i knew a lot of what has been said. brain fart.
Well, Muslims attack other religions... and I think cutting out the clitoris of a woman and polygamy isn't too... peaceful.
Why can't all faiths and religions realise their equally inferior to atheists? You've never had any wars started by atheists, and we get to sleep in on the weekends. Everyones born an athiest, anyone wanting to convert is immediatly pope of their own spiritual universe.
I think Christians are insecure with their religion. Christians have so many different translations of the bible....depending on the denomination. Even though Christianity has been around for quite sometime, it's still pretty unorganized as far as the belief goes. Sure, they all believe in one superior God and Jesus, but other than that, none of them really have their shit together. Other religions, who KNOW what they believe and all in that religion practice the same thing, are a threat, I guess. Christians feel the need to bash another religion because of the awareness that their religion is pretty unstable. Most Christians I know believe that only THEY will be allowed to enter the pearly white gates of Heaven. It's become a brainwash of sorts....but most religions are. Christianity is a cult with the label 'Religion'. I'm one of those that will die all dressed up with no where to go.
FGM is terrifying, no matter the religion involved but Polygamy isn't necessarily un-peaceful.. in fact, as long as everyone involved in comfortable with it, there's nothing wrong with polygamy/polyamoury As for attacking... well, I'm not christian and I'm willing to criticize most religions. They're all just methods of control, particularly when they get to the grandiose size of some like Christianity, Islam, Hinduism etc... attempts to increase control beyond basic society/cultural norms. Nowadays we also get to deal with technology invading and trying to control, but that's a whole nother rant
