... seem to miss key signatures more often than players of other types of instruments? When a well-known tune ends on a C major chord, you should know enough to be playing a B, not a B flat. .
Its probably to do with the fact that the trombone is unwielding and awkward to play, so they hit the wrong not accidentally. I doubt its a musical error.
They hit the 'right' note to them that is really a wrong note because they didn't pay attention to the key signature. .
Anyhow, let's bash trombone players. Q: Why don't you see trombone players at a playground? A: Because they can't swing and they don't know how to use a slide. .
If a trombone player plays a B-Natural, it damn well should be played as a B-Natural. You made the mistake by not playing it right with him. Trombone players don't make mistakes.
Musical instrument* I'm going to need a comprehensive list from you on why the trombone is not the worst musical instrument of all time.
The computer, nowadays, is definitely used as a musical instrument and probably produces the biggest crap. Just listen to rap, techno, etc.
Yeah, but trombones are the meat of the harmony, somewhere between trumpet and saxes. And where would sax players in a big band be if they didn't get that playful jab in the back every so often from the slides of the trombone section? .
I do. I would say percussion - piano/drums, cornet and trombone are the essentials of jazz, and double bass.
I just can't get enough of that solo sax. Having participated in big band ever since 6th grade, perhaps I'm a bit biased from all those long, tormet-filled days of having to sit through the agony of listening to the pitiful trombone section sloppily meander through an easy piece of music for the 1000th time. I just dislike the entire timbre of the instrument. Also I think it's construction and the engineering behind it is sort of stupid, and it makes people look silly when they play it.
I wouldn't really blame the instrument, I would blame the musician. From my knowledge, the brass section of school bands hasn't always been the best in most cases, anyway. You're missing out then, man. So many great, classic Jazz pieces don't even have saxophone. And ragtime jazz (probably my favorite) is dominated by piano, and I love playing some ragtime on the grand.
