In the society we live in now, sex is played as a dirty thing to do. Even after marriage is is said to be a disgrace to talk about or even do. I don't understand this. Why do so many people have a big problem with sex and sexual acts? Please tell me your thoughts.

Sex is only dirty when you do it right.

    hehe...exactly.

I say blame it on Jesus. Well, not Jesus, but the prudish, self righteous, hypocritical Bible thumpers that blew everything out of proportion and burned people as witches because it didn't rain for a few days....

Did that make any sense? Probably not. I'm tired.

Yes, religion takes the blame square on the head for this one. But, I can't even imagine *why* earlier religions started having such a problem with something that is perfectly natural and is a requirement for the survival of the species.

Whatever the case, I'm sick of it, and I no longer care what others think of my sexual behaviour. I enjoy it, and that doesn't make me a "slut". It's not dirty or sinful, it won't make you go blind. It may make you walk funny for a while, depending... but as long as you take proper health precautions, which all of us responsible people do anyway (right?), you've nothing to fear.

I hereby propose that everyone everywhere should get together and just have a big orgy - fuck in the streets!!! Maybe people wouldn't be so damned uptight if they just learned to enjoy it. UGH.... (sorry, i'm ranting again, but it just aggravates me to no end)

I agree that religion is to blame, I was always taught that sex is dirty and it still affects me. My mom is especially uptight about it. Sex (any mention of it) obviously makes her uncomfortable. She believes in "no sex before marriage". I don't. And I don't know if I believe in marriage.

I did a thesis on this when I was at University. Essentially, it is because of Religion. It generally starts with Judaism and a power struggle between male priests and female priestesses. The female Goddesses were more revered than the male Gods, and therefore the priestesses were held in higher regard as well. The Goddesses represented our sexual side, so the male priests of the Jewish sect denigrated Godesses, Priestesses and every persons sexual personna in order to grab spiritual power for themselves.

Satan is a male sexual diety. In the Jewish religion, he is cast out by God who cannot abide being tempted by women through his sexual personna.

These phobias about sex pass through Christianity because Jesus and Paul were Jews.

I studied many cultures before Christian missionaries influenced things. They were into sexual pleasure much more than we are today. Think of Tahiti in the days of Captain Cook and Lt Bligh and the native girls who had been trained how to pleasure men. And how much they enjoyed sex and how sex was fun, natural, clean and pleasurable!

The writings of observers of natural human sexuality without the influence of Jewish / Christian morals showed me that the existance of the morals and taboos of our Western society are not necessary and do much harm to our ability to enjoy the ultimate in sexual pleasures.

As a result of this knowledge, I follow no religion and I am an Agnostic.

If God didn't want us to have sex, he wouldn't have made sex feel so good.

Look at Egyptians. They thought that sex was good; they portrayed women as sexy. If we weren't intended to have sex, we wouldn't have orgasms and it wouldn't be fun. We can't/shouldn't treat it like it's just for reproducing, like those naive bible-obsessed religious people. Sex is viewed to be for "sluts" and "easy" people. That's bullshit. If sex was so dirty, it wouldn't be thriving in society like it is.

I dont think you can blame it all on religion. Sex is dirty because it can potentially cause severe problems in ones life.

i really dont know many people who are that uptight about talking about sex. i mean, most of my friends wont go into too much detail, true. but my close friends and i have no problem discussing sex. i guess ive always just been open about it. i dont see why its dirty. its natural. (just about) everyone does it. no reason not to discuss it openly, in my mind.
