I don't know if this belongs in the music forum or drug forum, but why do people ascosiate techno and eletronic music with drugs. Thea, I know the obvious. Raves. But honestly i have met 3 sober ravers in my life. And plus, the music itself. I enjoy listening to techno (Digweed, CHemical Brothers, Future Sound of London, etc.) a lot more when I'm sober then when I'm f**d up. I could never listen to Techno tripping or drunk. I've never rolled. And on Robo, it's almost like "turn this off", or "make the Robo experience end". It sucks. I don't do drugs anymore (other than alcohol), and the techno sounds a lot better. Why does a simple, good style of music (where a lot of the DJs who actually make the music don't do drugs) get linked with drugs? I'm not asking anyone for a description of a drug experience while listening to techno. Just why are the 2 connected? To me, ITS JUST MUSIC.
You have to be pretty fucked up on something to listen to beats with alot of bass and strange noises for more than ten minutes.
I don't know.. it's like that rock is ascosiated with drugs, reggae is with marijuana, punk is also with drugs.. I don't know.. that's just a fiction of media.. they needed something how to call people who like techno, rock, reggae or punk.. so they call them mostly junkies.
techno, electronica, and house music are great for dancing. they are associated with dancing, not drugs. but lots of people who want to dance for a long time and have fun tend to throw drugs into the mix. this includes alcohol. you don't see people at a bar dancing to the house band SOBER, do you...
Actually, most of the ravers I meet nowadays are straight-edgers; however, this is quite ironic, as everyone knows that the club scene was started when disco died out (along with the cocaine and heroin epidemics of the late 70's).
Music alters conciousness. Drugs alter conciousness. That is why they go together, I know personally when I goto a rave I like certain substances to enhance the experience because I feel the environment in itself is like a vortex of energy. And I wanna just take in so much of it in till I hit that breaking point. There's nothing like dancing all night in a field or warehouse with thousands of people just having a good time and feeling connected. It's almost transcendental in a sense... a very tribal and surreal experience. Mmmm... the thought.. Camp Bisco IV!
Your listening to the wrong techno music then. Check out The Crystal Method, The Warp Brothers, Baby Anne, DJ Icey, DJ River, The Chemical Brothers. Pretty much anything associated with breakbeats and hard house.
sorry but i only enjoy the music being referred to in this thread when im on drugs. otherwise its really boring like im fine with listening to it but not -get into- it
I can get into techno even when I'm not trippin'/rollin'...mostly it depends on how close you can get to that state in sobriety, with or without music. I'd toss into the mix some Tiesto "Live in Amsterdam" (either the live or RAI megamix) for a gentle onset, some Flatline vs. Forsaken "Still Underground" to get the mood going, and then Sickboy's liveset at Restless 2003 when you just start peakin'...(not the 2004 set, it sucks in comparison)... My albino friend swears on Baby Ann, which I like with shrooms...also try DJ Keoki's mix of "Madness" (can't remember the original author, sorry). For E I always get down with DK8 "Murder Was the Bass" discs, Frankie Bones' "Studio 54 (East 27 Mix)", and any typical Darkraver BS...
Because man, when you're ripped to the point of thinking everything is awesome.. the sound of the same synth loop going on for about 5 minutes rhythmically pounding into your head just ain't that cool.
Techno is like the best music to listen to if your doing anything, I love it when I am stoned. Especially if its at night and you got someone driving you around, and you are really fucked up its a trip.
drugs dont change my opinion of feelings towards a certain type of music. i like techno. with drug or without, along with other types of music too.
tekno is all about the drugs, if it wasnt for pills tekno wouldnt exist. its wicked music when your buzzin, but if you can enjoy it when your straight i think you need to get ya ears checked out.
Techno: extasy or any of those "vitamin pills" Grateful Dead: Shrooms, weed and all stuff like that. That some sort of explanation to it all, but that just like my opinion...
i agree..i listented to it once on an intense trip, it was as if i could pick out each instrument, pull it apart..
