Why isnt pot legal?

I was looking around online and i found one site that showed the "negitive" effects of weed. here is the list, with modifications by me.

• Impaired or reduced comprehension
• Altered motivation and cognition, making the acquisition of new information difficult

Long-term effects of using marijuana include:

• Enhanced cancer risk
• Decrease in testosterone levels and lower sperm counts for men
• Increase in testosterone levels for women and increased risk of infertility
• Diminished or extinguished sexual pleasure
• Psychological dependence requiring more of the drug to get the same effect

 

pot isn't legal because men in suits don't like to smoke up, they prefer to drink their whisky and rye

it's all fuckin stupid, all the tests that are being done with marijuana lately have been
to see what it's good for, and they haven't really come up with any huge NEGATIVE to keep it illegal
i don't think it should be legal, just decriminalized, if it's legal then it's going to be mixed
with chemicals to make it addicting and tax it so that we have to pay more, like with
cigarettes

just be responsible with it, if you're doing it in the comfort of your own home
and not causing a disturbance it's highly unlikely that you'll be busted for it

 

most people would probably say its because of the hallucinations. Also pot is considerd by many to be low class. like short-man said its classier to be seen with a glass than a joint.

There are many reasons as to why marijuana is illegal.

There are many historical reasons that are highly racial. During westward expansion, mexicans were used for labour, and this pissed off the white workers. mexicans smoked marijuana, so the whites pushed for it to become illegal.
There was a large claim against blacks using marijuana in the early 1900s that blacks couldn't control themselves under the influence of marijuana and it would cause them to rape white women.

Those are too historical reasons as to why it became illegal in the first place.

why is it still illegal?

There is a large portion of Americans who believe in morally policing the citizens of America. ever heard of prohibition? same idea. they claim that getting drunk or stoned, or anything isn't moral, and therefore should be illegal.

there are also a lot of economic reasons why it isn't legal. marijuana is a direct competitor for cigarettes and alcohol, both of which have large power in government. hemp is also a direct competitor with cotton and other textiles, so those companies push to keep it illegal as well.

basically, it shouldn't be illegal, but people are fucked up and keep it that way, based off of racist propaganda that didn't make any fucking sense in the first place.

 

fun fact: in the early days of the government trying to make marijuana illegal, they didn't have any substantial evidence to prove that marijuana should be illegal, they just didn't want it legal, so what they did was made it illegal to own/purchase marijuana without a specific card saying that you were allowed to. but in order to get this card, you had to be in posession of marijuana, since possessing marijuana without a card was illegal you were already in direct violation of the law, and were arrested.

i've hallucinated on weed plenty of times. but thats because i see the pixels, colours and close eyed visuals while sober, open eyed ones if its dark. have since i was a kid. marijunana just intensifies them.

 

i've had slight hallucinations on weed, it was after a large amount, but they were enjoyable, i thought i hallucinated on hash, cuz i was wearing my glasses, and there was a smudge on them, and the way the light hit it, the reflection was of my own eye, and i could see inside it, like thru the pupil, it was really wierd, but cool

 

Who says that is a downer? I love thinking I have been siting on my couch for 10 minutes and 3 hours have gone by.

To put it simply, the real reason for weed being illegal is the simple fact that those in power would rather get drunk.

the president of the US sits at home after a day of doing dick all and pours a glass of scotch

now on the same ticket, if the president were to go home after "work" and rolled a joint, weed wouldn't be illegal

quite simple, we just need someone in power that likes to smoke a joint instead of hit the bottle, then weed would not be illegal.

Then my friend is like ohh shit what time is it ive gotta go(were all high as balls by now) we all think its like 6 then i look at my phone and its 4:30 we were sittin there for 30 mins and we thot it was 2 hours.
