Why SHOULDN'T Marijuana be legalized?

I'm asking people to play devils advocate and state sensible reasons AGAINST the legalization of Marijuana, In other words what reasons will the powers that be site in order to keep it illegal?

because it would be nearly impossible to tax and regulate fully if made legal and we have already designed a private sector revolving around punishment of the offenders. we simply cant legalize it think of all the corrections officers,parole officers,probation officers,clerks of courts etc. it would put out of work.

no it simply must remain illegal for the good of our country.

 

This would be a disadvantage indeed but overall I'd say it would still be better if it was legalized. A step forward nevertheless. I did read the thread title by the way

I don't think it should be legalised because we know about it's carcinogenic properties.
Legitamising another potential public health crisis is irresponsible.

edit> I won't have time to argue about my post today, I'll be working soon... But, there are an awful lot of fucking idiots out there. We trust those same idiots with alcohol already... So, my answer is more of a non answer... I do think HHB's answer is worth investigating... But, I don't necessarily entirely agree. I simply think a new system would work itself out around it. Lots of people lose jobs due to progress. Do we stop progress because of that?

 

It only causes cancer in the state of california. Move anywhere else and it actually helps prevent cancer.
