I've thought about this for a long time now and really I don't know if there is any single definitive answer. My question is, Why do so many people have such a blatant disrespect towards life? I mean seriously, it seems that so few actually legitimately care about other life. I'm not talking about just human life, as any fool can tell we are not the only living things on this earth. Everywhere I've been (I'm nomadic too) people just don't seem to care about the livelihood and wellbeing of animals and plants alike. Granted there are people out there who do care, and some communities as a whole care more than others, but still they are few and far. As a very minor example, my parents shoot at deer that eat their plants, now these plants aren't my parents livelihood, they are simply domesticated nature that they plant for their pleasure, the deer on the other hand are eating them to survive. Keep in mind that's a very MINOR example, just look at the massive farms of death we have all around the world built specifically to breed and kill animals. True, people do eat the meat, but nobody really needs to. Now, I can understand if you are in the wild and trying to survive, killing another animal would be justified, but I haven't come across a single person who eats meat for that reason. That's not even taking into consideration how much disrespect and hatred we as humans hold towards each other. Racism, sexism, hatred towards different mindsets, religious quarrels, war, genocide and the list goes on and on. Where is the love people? And not the love that our society believes so much in today. Love in our society today is sold like any other commodity, it's packaged with the idea that if you love someone then you must prove it by buying them material things. (Rings, jewelry, houses, cars etc...) When are we as a race going to wake up and live for the sake of living, not for the sake of obtaining (pleasure)? Humans take advantage of everything, we under appreciate the majority of things that actually matter and put way to much of an emphasis on those that don't. Can we change this? Will we continue to disregard others thoughts, lives and culture? Do we as an entire race possesses the power to realize that we are very similar to animals in a sense that we're all just trying to get by and live. I realize we have the ability to interpret things differently and create/imagine, but because we possesses these things do we not also have the ability to overcome the evil that we do?
because we're supposed to die. disrespect for life in overcrowded conditions is a part of the natural order of things. accept the bad with the good. if you don't want to be the shadow, be the sun.
I try so hard to be the change that I want to see, but still I feel it makes such little difference. I'm loosing hope, and the natural way of things is not evil. There's both good and bad in the world, and I completely realize that, but so much of it is unnecessary evil that we could easily do without.
i would argue that anything that exists is here for a reason, and that includes a "evil" disrespect for life.
Obviously bad must exist for there to be good, because if not then we would not be able to differentiate between the two. But still, like I said we create so much unnecessary evil that makes people lives so much harder than they have to be.
There will always be "evil" in the world, but it is up to you on how you take life and what you do with it.. Sit and sulk, or go out and live it...
i don't know about the first part of your statement, i tend to disagree. there wouldn't be a viewable difference between good and bad if we weren't here to differentiate. very few animals give a shit beyond their own survival. but we humans have to get all romantic about it and give something undefineable and natural a label. it's birth and death, fed days and starving days.
I don't "sit and sulk" and I do go out and live, however if we don't think about the evil and how to change it then how can we ever expect to get rid of it or at least some of it?
i'll never understand this need to rid the world of "evil." the only way to do that is to rid the world of life.
I'm not even talking about completely riding it of evil, that would be great, but I don't think it is possible. Rather change it for the better, in other words we can at least try to get rid of some of it.
just do your bit and don't stress over what other people should be doing. make the people you touch just a little bit happier. that's doing your part.
I know, that's why I am not directly asking others to change...I'm asking why can't we? And why do we hold all these negative viewpoints etc....that do so much harm to others. I feel the best way to demand others to keep an open mind is to do so yourself and lead by example.
Haven't you heard it’s been scientifically proven that God doesn't exist and we are just random chemical reactions with out any purpose. Death and decay are just different chemical processes than life and one chemical process is no better or worse than another. So life is meaningless and not deserving of respect.
