It is very hard to not stress over the pain that others experience. Each one feel it, or at least that's how I feel. Whenever someone else is in pain for whatever reason I feel as though I actually hurt with them (just not to the extent that they feel it). It pains me to see others suffer, I'm sorry for feeling that way...I just can't help it.
I think, its alot better than it used to be, and with time it could, may not, but could get better still. I mean they used to have public hangings and all sorts, but not anymore. The RSPCA.. you know all that kinda stuff... I'm not sure but i bet it didnt exist a hundred years ago.. And well people always gotta disrespect something.. Just life of a plant or a bug, well its something humans have more control over.
It's very funny for me to come on here and see this thread. Have you ever read "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn? It's a beautiful book and I think you will enjoy it. Discusses mankinds mythological need to conquer the world instead of being part of it....how we are so egocentric that we feel the world, the universe, all the cosmos were made just for us....and in doing so, we can destroy and demolish anything we want. Its a story between a teacher, a telepathic gorilla, and his student....and what his student is being taught. If you have ever seen the movie "Instinct" not "Basic Instinct", then the movie is based on this book.
You should just try to make life better for you and the people you come in contact with, it is impossible for you to think that the world would be rid of all suffering and horridness... It will continue on and on until perhaps we blow ourselves up.. You say you don't like the "negativity" but what exactly are you doing though, you are being negative, why don't you take a look at all the positive things in the world or make situations you come in contact with positive, just do what you can do that is all you can really do...I understand what you are saying but the world will always have tragedy and heartache.. You have to push through that and just do your part I guess...
As I already said mystical shroom, without pointing out the negative things in life we can not change them for the better. I am usually a very optimistic person, I agree that one can not be negative all the time, if even for the right reasons, because then they become part of what they hate so. I've also already stated that I try very hard to be the change that I wish to see. I never make fun of others, I try never to talk behind the back of another, I share the little that I have (no money...just a guitar), and I try to always put others before myself. Now, all these things are much easier said than done, but I TRY to the best of my abilities, or at least I think so. This is the random thoughts forum, so I posted a random (well not so random really) thought of mine. Dissect it as you wish, but don't try to tell me what I do or who I am. And I hate vanity, so don't think I do this from some self-richeous peddle stool...I'm poor, humble and just trying to get by like everyone else.
Huh..? I'm not dissecting anything, like you I am posting my random thought on what you are discussing, what's so wrong with that..? I mean I am sorry if you don't like to hear other people's thoughts on this matter, I was just giving my opinion your thought is all I was doing. Sorry if it upset you or offended you which I didn't even say anything bad. It seems you want everyone to jump on your bandwagon and agree with you, while some may agree with some of your points, everyone's thoughts differ.. And I am and was just sharing mine, not dissecting anything you said at all...
By dissect I mean interpret, because without paying close attention to what is said one cannot fully understand it. I did not mean to come off as defensive or offensive either, and I apologize if I did. I respect anyones thoughts, and there is no bandwagon to jump on, these are simply my thoughts. You stated that I was being negative (when in fact I was pointing out negativity), and I replied by telling you that in my opinion if we don't think about negative things now and then we stand no chance at changing them. We both probably have the same mindset regarding this subject (some minor variations, perhaps more...). Anyways, yea I meant no offense either, once again sorry if I came off as hostile in any way.
I beg your pardon, that I come here in the middle of the discussion. I seem to understand the point of the OP, but I can't say I equally understand some posts. So let me ask you, if you don't mind. Right, that is what makes a human -- his ability to think beyond his survival, food and childbearing. Can we deny our very human nature? Yes, it is painful to live according to human nature these days; but can we really help being humans? Never will understand this need to rid the world of evil? Let them rob, kill, rape, abuse -- you'll never understand why one should want to get rid of these goodies? Excuse me, please, but I don't quite follow your thought. Or, wait a minute, Just let me try to imagine it: ...They kill your brother -- and you don't really mind; they rape your sister in front of your eyes -- and you wait until they finish and then go and finish your breakfast; they beat you up in the street with baseball beats breaking a couple of bones and take all your money, and you say: "Well, I can't understand why somebody should feel bad about such normal things of life! What romantic nonsense!" ..... Quite grotesque, to be frank... Or is it just me?...
Come on aguest, stop being an old stick in the mud. Don't you know that without evil you can't enjoy the good things because you wouldn’t have anything to contrast them with. Up with the Barbarians of this world for helping us to enjoy the good things in life.
You're right it’s all about maintaining a balance between good and evil, and personally I’d settle for a stalemate Hotwater
it's just you. maybe a few others. personally, i'd just kill that guy with the utmost viciousness, which would by many be viewed as it's own evil. personally, i consider it animal nature.
:smilielol5: Oh, I can see you are learning your lesson, OlderWaterBrother? I also feel much more humble now, and ready to learn... So maybe we should start practicing: Start eating a cup of , eh, shit right before a meal -- that in order to enjoy more fully the fine dishes my wife has cooked... Before having sex with one's wife/girlfriend it is a good idea to give her a beat -- that will make the pleasure from sex more intense, I presume... Oh, I can't figure out anything better than this right now: night is not my best time. Sorry (EDITED)These above are mere examples! I give no guarantee whatsoever regarding any possible success and desired effect!
justice is pretty made up, too, i think. when you can look into the animal world, and see all sorts of natural behaviors in animals, the same sort of ugliness and viciousness that we see in human beings, i figure all those terms are ultimately made up by people. i prefer to be a good person, and bring good feelings and good health to people around me. but that doesn't mean there hasn't been a time or two when i've relished the HORRIFIC death of someone else. i'm not that "good." i don't want to be completely good or completely evil, since neither aspect if particularly functional in the natural world.
Why should we care about other life? We live in a brutal world where we have to compete with other life and kill to survive. Thats just the way it is. Fuck other life.
i think a lot of our troubles also arise from our need to save as many human lives as we can. it's natural. we're sentimental beasts. but by increasing the life expectancy the world over, fighting diseases, pushing back death, increasing the amount of food people have available, we do something that feels right to us. it's good. who wants to see people dying, hurting, in pain? but ultimately the very things we do curb all the "evil" in the world create a necessity for more of another kind of evil in the world to reduce the populations, like viral epidemics and food shortages, ravaging of natural resources to support all those lives we managed to keep around because we find death so unsavory. but what can you do? we're human beings.
