I just need a place to vent about this for a minute. I HATE MY FREAKIN JOB! I work at a Frish's Big Boy in ohio, and every time I go into work im in a good mood but by the end I hate everyone there. I started about 3 months ago and now I am the second strongest server on my shift, but I get screwed over all the time. I work with all women and I have to deal with things from other servers stealing my tables , everyone leaving there side work for me and being the only person who will do any kind of lifting, so I have to dump there bus tubs and garbage EVERY time, I don't have a problem working but I have a problem doing everyone's work and only getting paid for mine. Has anyone been in a simaler situation? I need advice on telling these ladies to quite taking my money (tables) and to do there work. I'v talked to my managers and they all just shrug it off but I'm not about to be everyone's bitch because I got a pair.

So any advice would be greatly appriciated.

Tell them you won't stand being sexually discriminated. That'll have to yield something...

Is it because you are a man or because you are the newest? It sucks in either case, but "hang in there" works only in the second case.

I wrote an essay on this topic:

    Why Work Sucks

    • Time: Too much time spent there, doing the bidding of others. Time spent getting ready for, going to and from; and the inevitable down time at work while whoever is in charge gets their head out of their ass to tell you what meaningless, counterproductive task is next at hand.
    • The Commute: Traffic. Every day. Dangerously distracted drones, just like you, fighting their way along the streets to somewhere they really don’t want to go to in the first place. All of them focused on personal problems, the car radio, or inane cell phone conversations; basically anything but safe driving. Literally a life-threatening situation. Every. Single. Day.
    • Pay: You will never, ever, ever earn what you’re actually worth. Never. Ever. All of your God-given actual talents will atrophy and degrade as the mindless tasks to which you devote yourself daily on your job caustically erode the higher intellect centers of your brain. Drones (such as yourself) earn a median average wage, meaning it’s not dependent upon what you’re worth, but the minimum amount that an ‘average’ worker will accept to perform what is required. And of course, the bar for performance will be set inversely to wring the maximum amount of effort from you. Expect the raises, if any, to be insignificant, empty gestures meant to pacify the least common denominator among you. Most likely it will be just incrementally small enough to thrust you into a new tax bracket that will devour it whole.
    • People: People are mean, stupid, scared little animals. Human nature will never fail to disappoint you. Daily interaction with a sentient species historically hell-bent on self-destruction can’t be healthy. The resulting stress from dealing with them in any form, from the insufferable, slave-driving taskmaster (bastard or bitch) whom you work for, to the irresponsible, lazy, nagging gossip you work alongside, can be deadly. To you, if you chose to internalize your frustrations… to them, should you ever snap under the pressure of having to hold your tongue, and find a weapon conveniently at hand.

So don’t bemoan your fate after reading this. You are where you are, unfortunately, because of decisions you have made in your life thus far. Decisions made out of fear or desperation, however, are never beneficial in the long run. The seeming, and in today’s economy, fleeting security of a steady paycheck will lure you into a deeply dissatisfying rut (sort of like a grave, but not as deep…). A rut where you will don your blinders and become oblivious to anything meaningful in life, focusing instead on performing menial tasks for those who employ you. The sad part is that as pitiful as the rut is, even it isn’t secure by any means. At any moment, being that your fate not in your hands, you could be fired. For any reason at all. Ask yourself if you’re happy. Think about the things you’d change if you were in charge of how you earned your income. Consider the idea of freeing yourself from the insanity of the world of work you currently are experiencing, and what that would feel like. It’s not too late, because you’re still on this side of the dirt. Not to dwell on your mortality, but when you’re headed towards that ‘final destination’, and cast a wistful glance back over the winding road you’ve traveled, how much of that life was spent as an easily replaceable cog in the machine of industry? You’ll spend the majority of your life earning an income of some sort, and then later on managing any savings or government subsidies that you’ve earned after decades of toil. It doesn’t have to be this way. Make a conscious decision to take back control, or the fetters of common labor which hold you now will be with you ‘til your grave.

hang in there man, your only 19, your more then likely going to be moving on to bigger and better things. I'd take it up with the managers again and if they blow you off again tell them your quiting and get a job thats better or one where you don't have to work with people.

complaining about work is not very manly. infact its lame. if you dont like your work, then dont work there. if you dont like your life on the otherhand because you cant get any other job, then it is your life that you should be complaining about and not the job youre at (or even better - fix instead of complain).

work is shit. otherwise it would be called play. it is possible to get paid for your play, or to have work which incorperates play. but you have to work harder in order to get to those jobs (or just have a kind of natural talent which most - huge porportion - do not)

Lots of jobs suck, especially your first jobs. How do the people you work for feel about your work? I'm asking this because a good reference can help you get a better job.

Look for something better. When you find something better, give notice and leave your sucking job.
