When I went to high school freshman it was with a student body of 600 58 of us were white. it was okay with me to make mildly racist jokes with my black/african american friends, because they made them too, and I wasn't a white kid, I was that crazy mo-fo who wore a cloak who everyone thought was going to shoot up the school (dave, remember I'm your friend) how come I can have black friends and jokingly be myself called nigga, and say it to them also (we were all joking, I mean we had etymology discussions) but some old ass white hippie feels that it is immoral for me to say?
its just one of those things. Some people are cool with it, some arnt. i equate it to the use of any other curse word. It's like how some people get turned off by people who cuss a lot. naw'mean?
While I don’t remember the exact number of students in my high school class, I was the only black student, and yet I never felt compelled to call myself a cracker Hotwater
you mean, if you had an intelligent white friend call you cracka it would have offended you? because, I mean, if I am told, I am expected to reciprocate, and that it's okay, when the word has VALID etymological roots. I don't think it's reasonable for me to say "nah man, that's okay" it's a word that has soft negative meaning. the meaning does not come from it's etymology, it comes from who has used it great, black people who hated white folks called them crackers, awesome, to me it's still just a salty snack. and always will be. Nigga is a bastardization of a latin word, and if we start purging words that aren't cool because of ignorance in their history, hysteria better be the next one on the chopping block.
I plan to have all my white friends call me nigga for a month. To see if they can get it out of their systems.
