I have heard that if your dreads get moldy to soak them in windex for 5 minutes or so and then wash them out really good. I guess the ammonia helps to kill the mold. I unfortunately don't know if I have mold in mine or not. I have had them for 2.5 years. Whenever I wash them and don't dry them good enough, they have a musty moldy smell that drives me crazy. (especially this summer when it was all muggy outside) I try to dry them as best as I can now and noticed the smell is gone. But then I have also seen grey patches in the dreads that looks like mold but it might just be lint from clothing that got stuck to the wax. I don't use wax all that often.
Can anyone elaborate or offer up some advice..?

Tea tree oil is a natural anti-fungal ~ try that to get the moldy smell out. I would think amonia would burn your hair and whatever other chemicals are in windex.
