Women Who Lie About Rape

This isn't anything personal or recent, just a really old question on women who lie about being raped for their own benefit.

I have heard of girls doing this, though again not on a personal level.

Mostly girls who have a one night stand and say they were raped so they don't look like a whore.

etc.

Anyone have this happen personally or give some opinion?

I think it's fairly low, but I hear more women lie about it than we know.

 

I've heard of this too, like if the parents find out that the girl is having sex and they get mad they say its rape. Personally I think it's bullshit, it makes real rape look petty, I mean how would you know that they weren't just saying it?

I think chicks who do this should be thrown in jail for slander.

 

Yeah I know, this is why rape convictions are harder to get than ever for those real rapists.

 

i have no respect for people who lie about rape. i had a friend who claimed that my biggest crush (in 9th grade) raped her. i was so mad at him and supportive of her, and years later i found out she'd never been raped, i stopped talking to her completely.

its cruel, and it adds to the 'its my fault, they won't believe me, i don't want to press charges' pandemic. its disgusting.

 

It's the reason we didn't take in a friend daughter, it's to bad she could be a good kid but you just can't trust anything that come out of her mouth.

Oh please. This is like saying that your uncle Charlie smoked 10 packs of cigarettes a day and lived to be 100, so that proves cigarettes aren't really bad for you.

Or to be more up to date ... it's like saying "damn, it was cold here last night. That proves that there global warmin' thing must be nothing but bullshit."

Of course there are women who have lied about being raped. No one denies that. But compare that number to the number of men who lied when they said they didn't do it. Or compare it to the number of women who were raped and didn't report it.

Let's keep the big picture in mind here. Compared to the problem of rape and sexual assault in general, the problem of false accusations is trivial.

 

Nobody denies girls are actually raped. I think the points here are quite valid. False rape accusations only serve to dillute the tragic issue of rape. Rape is up there next to murder in my book. It's haneous, so when false allegations are made, it can be equally as haneous perpetrated against the accused. The false accuser should serve an almost equal amount of time for the accusation.

 

the only problem with that is that if circumstances lead to a not guilty verdict, would the accuser get jail time? that runs the risk of real victims being prosecuted simply because the investigation couldn't absolutely prove a rape.

 

Which is exactly what happens now with the falsely accused. hey, whats good for the goose... I'm not really that extreme with that thought process but what if the charges were not proved and the accused was found innocent and he could then file his own charge? Dont automatically give the accuser jail time but make him/her stand a trial of their own.

 

two wrongs don't make a right. a true rape victim is already damaged. the trial they go through is the trial in which they stand against their accused. they're questioned, doubted and grilled on every level. it's a painful and ugly process already. then to add to that ANOTHER trial? the accused isn't the only one on trial in a rape case.

 

that being said, it is legal for a falsely accused to file defamation charges, and whether or not the prosecutor wishes to pursue charges against a false accuser are entirely up to them. it IS a part of the legal system to bring these women to justice. a true rape victim doesn't deserve the horror that these women bring them. it's horrible.

 

Now you are painting the picture of what i'm saying about the falsely accused. once accused, whether found guilty or not, their life is destroyed. This is not to be taken lightly and I feel that there should be serious consequences for the false allegation just as there are for rape, murder, etc.... In either case a life is destroyed.

 

it's true. i don't wanna see an innocent's life destroyed. you know that. but it would be the height of insensitivity to bring charges against a true rape victim when they've already been through the ringer.

 

you are right. i would never want to see that either. I just hate the way it's set up now. in rape accusation, the accused is guilty. period. he may get out of jail time but his life will be OVER either way. I hate it.

 

well, people can be, and ARE arrested and prosecuted for false allegations. all people, especially rape victims, are pretty damned disgusted by false rape accusations. however, it's not nearly as prevalent as people would like to think. many of the innocent who were jailed weren't put there by false charges, rather, sketchy investigative work and overzealous prosecutors.

 

True enough. I do agree with that. I think it is more prevalent than people think but it does not always make it all the way to court. You know my story of this very subject.

 

Whoa, I don't believe an accused that is proven innocent has their life ruined.

You're not blacklisted for getting charged period.

You are blacklisted for being convicted of a charge and having a criminal record.

If I were accused of rape and then I was found not guilty, I shouldn't have a hard time getting a job, maybe I'd have to move, but my life would not be over.

Back to the point, I think false rape accusations simply make the legal process slower and harder, for every rape charge that does not go through, there is less effort on the part of the cops for future charges.

well, one thing about extra-marital sex not being illegal so much now means there's likely to be fewer situations where a lady gets caught and cries rape...or not. bitches are crazy.
