The way I hear it most commonly used I'd say just no major conflict, international wars and the like.
depends. Ideally, it would mean paradise, heaven on earth, utopia. No crime, hate, war, poverty, violence, etc. Most people use it to mean a world without war and strife.
"World peace" is an ideal that is unachievable because of human nature. "International peace" is quite accomplishable, and should be strived for. =)
haha very good question, we all seem to want it but what exactly is it...? yeah i think it's the ideal, paradise, nobody out to get anyone else. but we wouldn't be human if we didn't have conflict, just a pity some people have to take theirs so far..
Are you human? Think about that for a while. Then maybe you should ask yourself this question, Can you live in harmony with your fellow humans? Or Do you have to destroy other's property to live your life? do you have to ruin other's lives/take their life? no, right? If you can live in harmony with your community and if you are a human then what is stopping other humans like you from being in harmony with each other?
Arent psychological illnesses part of human nature as well? Greed is human nature too. Some are more greedy than others. Just because there are some rational, good humans in this world doesnt mean that human nature is purely good.
I mean take vegetarianism for example. People's views on morals differ accross the globe. People think what they are doing is right, and they make themselves believe it
Yes, but we don't have to be perfect to be good to each other, we just have to want to be good to each other, thats all. its not so hard. The problem here is that we think xyz is possible, where as zyx is not possible, but thats not true, both are possible if we make them that way. What we have to do is lift ourselves to purity, Sattvism, then we will be able to come closer to the truth.
who cares what your morals are, I don't eat meat, that does not mean that I go and hurt people who eat meat. We all have to compromise and get along at some point, but alot of times this simple truth is not easy to see, we all fight over little things, from "whose coffee this is" in the morning to "whose land this is" . At the municipal and the international level, we are completely capable of negotiating and compromising, sometimes we just choose not to do so. If you don't compromise with somethings in your life then thats okay, you are not the president/prime minister/king of a nation, but if a king or some one in a leadership position does this then it can have a big effect on all the people.
