For some reason, listening to this... just changes my prospective on some aspects of life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FlOJXL4j6k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vuadh1o0yC8 I don't know why. Better than Zep anyday... Some of the usage of note combos and rhythmic quadruplets are just jawdropping. Just the persistance is... Either way, I still have to say it's the best damn Southern Rock there will ever be. Sad thing is, the D-man's amp was stolen... so this is the only time I've ever seen him with a Randall half-stack. Can't be Warren's... I love that sound.
ohhh man George! I couldnt agree with you more!! haha Its why they keep me coming back!! Last time I saw them play DTB opened for Allman bros and then of course played with them. Man it was just sick. Def one of the most impressive acts on tour. Call me southern, but seriously there really is jsut somethin about that southern rock feel that gets my blood pumpin.... man where's he gonna be in 10 years?!?! He'll be too good to comprehend
I know what you mean... Even his uncle Butch shows that. Butch is one of the most proficient drummers I've ever been in the presence of at all the shows I've been to. Jaimoe and him have got something going on between them and Marc in percussion duties that no other band has, to what I've seen. I've seen them with moe... mule, either way, they tend to go beyond all expectations that I have before I go to every show. Derek's playing with Clapton now.... Duane was in his early twenties when he did the Layla solo and tour for Derek and the Dominoes. Now it truly is Derek and the Dominoes. There are little things like this that make me think that it isn't just a coincidence. I don't care if it's Marshall Tucker or whoever (eh, might as well use them since I have their lyrics in my sig), I still think Southern Rock and Avant Garde jazz is the greatest fusion of sound you can really get for your time and money.
I posted a video of him at 15 or 16 on here last night. Here it is... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVlvoz2pi-Y http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derek_Trucks (I wrote much of that article) It just ain't right when people talk shit about the new ABB stuff. Duane's energy can be quite warmly intimidating and overshadowing, even in death... God rest his soul.
That's funny... I watched that Spin Dr video just going through you tube before I came back here. He's pretty amazing man. -Mike
Yeah, you can really feel how far he's come and his potential. He's definately in my top inspiration, musicianshipwise, whereas Buddy Guy dominates inspiration as far as stage presence and showmanship goes. Hendrix wouldn't have been around if it weren't from him... and if Jimi took the day off from playing to see a BG show, you know there's a reason why.
I tend to hold a variety of shape/size extra heavy picks somewhere on me at any given time, even though I often don't use them. But there is just no way I can do any flatpicking without a pick... I also like to use it to scratch and drag, so I tend to resolve with hybrid (David Crosby-esque) methods.
Derek Trucks is out of this world. I saw him come out and play with his wife Susan Tedeschi when I saw her. Hmmmmm yummy.
haha the lagrange tease at the beginning. Ya when i saw them at the tabernacle they did an acxoustic in the kitchen. It was killer.
I wish I could see them do an acoustic ITC. I'm going to be seeing them 2-27-07... and then Keller Williams is on 2-2-07 with The Keels.
I saw that first show ,different places(is it on a dvdor something?), like four times. its so good. and the other videos was good, but check this oot http://youtube.com/watch?v=RA4O6w6CN6Q
Yeah... I believe it's the Peakin' At the Beacon dvd.... if I recally correctly. Haha... I love that name.
Yeah, SCI and Keller are definately my version of dead/phish... even though I was around for Phish, I've always felt a strong connection with Billy and the boys. I've only really met Billy Nershi and Travis, before a show started. My ticket was #1, since I always get there a couple hours early (easiest way to meet them is to wander around the mall... I saw Xavier Rudd waltzing through MacArthur Center before a Mule show) I was baked like a wedding cake and Billy kept giving me a goofy look of utter shock.
