I saw the thread 'pregnant' and am now wondering how many women would or have smoked weed while pregnant themselves? Do people think that is does or does not affect the baby? Personally I believe that bringing another life into the world is not something you just waltz into...I believe that being a mother means putting the baby's health first, so for me that would mean no smoking, drinking, drugs, etc. I really dont know if weed does affect a fetus, but something in my gut tells me that its not a smart idea... Thoughts?
then a women should stop drinking tap water too.. ever so moderate use of cannabis is less toxic than acetaminophen.. there are worse things to think about.. say shes downing anti depressants while pregnant ?? Taking Paxil during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy may increase a woman's chance of having a baby with a birth defect. But for some women who have already been taking Paxil, the benefits of continuing may be greater than the potential risk to the baby... > WTF??
Cannabis has been proven to be safe for pregnant mothers. Anything about it harming the baby is a myth.
I'm in between on this topic now. I haven't read into it or anything so idk what to really think. Like I said in the pregnant thread, do as you please but I personally would probably stop due to feeling slightly guilty. It's not something I NEED in my life so I don't see a big deal when it comes to stopping. I won't know for sure til I get pregnant and my hormones start getting all whacked
bullshit bro. not saying that cannabis is worse than prozac or whatever, but SMOKING anything is NOT GOOD for a developing fetus. they are getting enough pollutants from the regular air the mother breathes that they don't fucking need smoke particles, even if they are from the great mary jane. i think pregnant mothers should take as few drugs as possible, like none. SMOKING is probably the worst of it. a weed brownie would be less "harmful," but still probably unnecessary. i think caffeine and acetaminophen should be avoided as well.
Really most the women I seen smoking while pregnant took a toke from a joint an put it out.. They never kept smoking it. times too when they was nauseous, and wanted relief. I never seen anyone eat it though. I dont think they should cause thats more drug and its effects are stronger on the adult human too.. But a few women I know did smoke some. They were always against smoking tobacco though. A person smoking less cannabis will personally get high on very small amount. These properties will go to the human adult brain really fast, there is very little of the drug available to the growing baby.. I think someone respects the fact they have a baby: and would only use it, if necessary.. A girl I know pregnant giving Percocet for sprained leg. Now this makes me wonder if she gets higher on the dope while having a sprain already and falls. Isnt she more likely to damage baby?.
Yes what is the point? Its not a full year and all women shouldn't smoke anything. Its too important to risk. A lot of people might turn grow up and do great things. Women should have a choice to do whatever they want to their bodies. They are responsible, but to inhale fire down your throat and aim it directly at future life to me is not a good idea.
I understand your point (how healthy is some tap water these days?) but I don't mean to say that women who are pregnant cant - or wont - take in anything unhealthy. Thats just not possible! Obviously there have to be REASONABLE restrictions...marijuana is not a necessity, whereas water is. People breathe in polluted air, drink chemically cleaned water - the list goes on. The point is what substances the mother CAN control her intake of. This unborn child didn't ask to be conceived, nor did s/he ask to be born into this world with some kind of health issue. I'm not saying that pot absolutely causes any harm - but I DONT KNOW either. Have there even been any in depth studies about marijuana and babies?? The truth is we're not 100% sure, so why would anyone want to risk it?
I've always vowed that if I ever found out I was pregnant, I'd stop smoking right there and then until the baby was born. However, I see pregnant women smoking cigarettes ALL THE TIME and it just drives me fucking nuts that it's perfectly okay for them to do that, but if a pregnant mother tests positive for THC, she loses her child as soon as it's born and risks jail time. That's backwards as hell if you ask me. But inhaling smoke of any type is not good for a developing fetus. As for babies not needing THC...perhaps not, but what about the mothers carrying the babies? Ever heard of hyperemesis gravidarium? That's what they call morning sickness amped up by about 500%. It can be a life threatening condition for both mother and baby. And THC can help alleviate some of the symptoms, thus preventing dehydration. I'm pretty sure dehydration and lack of nutrients is much worse for a developing fetus than THC. Anyway, regardless of my feelings towards THC and pregnancy, it's still not worth losing my child to CPS, period. I reiterate, the minute I discover I'm pregnant is the minute I put down the bong, until the baby is no longer depending on my body at all. That includes breastfeeding. I mostly smoke these days because I enjoy it, and if I had a little life inside of me, I'd no longer be living just for me.
Or the women who drink like fish, or pop a bunch of pills...of course there are plenty of women who have hurt their unborn children, many knowingly doing so, other not aware at all. Of course there are much worse things than smoking while pregnant, and sometimes choices have to be made, such as choosing between a lack of nutrients and some THC. However I am more or less referring to people who are overall in a healthy enough state and still choose to smoke...
