Denver is getting some snow today. Yesturday we had none, and now we've got a foot or more. with 10 more inches still on the way. Yay, snow day!!! arty:
we're up in the fort, we're getting hammered. i have a friend in commerce city who's husband was stranded in his truck. dave's outside shoveling AGAIN. he had to pick kai up from school today, because i'm not really capable of driving in snow. he was pushing snow the whole way home. school is shut down for the rest of the week and then for two weeks for the winter break. and we don't have to go ANYWHERE!! whoohoo!! i have a cute pic of kai and joey, dealing with the snow in their own ways:
I was walking the dogs through capitol hill and there were drifts in the sidewalks that were about 4 feet deep. I've only seen snow like this in the mountains. This is nuts. Be SAFE everyone! Very cute pic KC
all the shoveling dave did is already unnoticeable. where kai was playing in the back yard a half hour ago is now pristine and smooth. we've a snow drift in our front yard up to my boobs, and i'm 5'5"!
ten INCHES? when i was living on donner summit in 1968, we got 12 inches AN HOUR for EIGHT HOURS on JUNE the 2nd! and it did snow that heavy for EIGHT HOURS that night. which means we woke up on the morining of june the 3rd with EIGHT FEET of new snow. ah but that was/is about 50 to 80 miles east of here, where i live now, down in this valley, where if it ever snows, that would be amazing. someting that happens maybe once in 50 or 100 years. tis crisp and cooooold outside on this dark dark night though. well about 20 miles up the road it's already down to freezing, and sure to get there or near it here. not a cloud in the crisp sharp night sky. just stars and stars. and again a blessed and happy midwinter's ever to on and all. =^^= .../\...
lol. we can't get out our front door. i still think it's big deal, i don't care WHAT themnax says. i'm crippled here. though dave did manage to climb up onto the road in his jeep to go pick up his paycheck. i hope the bank is open.
I wouldn't count on any banks being open, but I'm not sure how things are up in the Fort. There's nothing going on in Denver, thats for damn sure. Your right about themnax's comments, Donner summit probably dosn't have a city of several million people on it. There saying we got 24 inches so far. thats a big fucking deal in a big city.
everything is shut down. it's so funny. they have the main streets cleared here, but left 4' snow banks so getting out of driveways is really interesting. in front of my house is especially bad, i've had people getting stuck there all day and night since yesterday. it'sbeen entertaining, since they haven't been badly stranded. but i've water boiling for cocoa just in case.
