Ahoy … Has there been a Hip Hop thread yet, probably has been on the wider forum , but Man, I can’t seem to get anything outta the search engine? Anyway, if by some chance there hasn’t, then this thread could serve a purpose. I know roots is roots and old school is old school, but it would be cool, if this thread is used to refer more to current Hip Hop that really kicks … I guess no one is ‘awesome’ enough to say what is ‘real’ and what isn’t, but please, none of those 50 Cent / Soulja Boy flavours … although each to their own, I suppose So I would dig to kick off with a track called ‘House Of Flying Daggers’, which is off the new Raekwon album … ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. II’. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nR7kVnh3PlI On the reggae thread I mentioned my opinion that Wu-Tang Clan haven’t hit that standard they did in the earlier albums, but wow, no doubt they did it again on this Raekwon track. The rest of the album is OK, and together with ‘8 Diagrams’ is a good reflection of the disagreements over direction that Raekwon and Rza have been having … it’s good to see what they were going on about now … and I can see where Raekwon was coming from, maybe Rza’s eclectic production interests aren’t that good for Wu business.

First, two Pittsburgh rappers: I had English 101 with their drummer and they've done shows with the Roots. Wiz Khalifa Next, two white rappers: MC Chris MC Lars And I was going to have two I was shocked to see on MTV, but YouTube is down. =P
lol @ eminem/kanye in a "real hip hop thread" even jay z and pac dont belong here, they were influential, but by no means what this thread is about. (in my opinion anyway) not saying i dont like them, just saying they dont belong in a list labled real hip hop. but yea, some of my favs would be quick random list of artists i appreciate because i feel like they embody what hip hop should be. the pharcye, nas, common, krs-1, mos def, taleb kweli, boot camp clik(and its members individually), sage francis, wu tang(all the memberes), roots, anybody who ever performed on the chappelle show, swollen members, dialated peoples, pharoah monch, mr lif, j5, bone thugs, edit* i almost forgot wyclef
Ahoy … Nice Bro, Nice … it would be cool if things could be focused on actual Hip Hop grooves and it would be really awesome if we could learn about new artists … and old I suppose … from each other. Not having a go at anybody’s tastes either, or other ‘Fusion / R&B with a Rap being thrown in’ styles, but for sure, Hip Hop with MCs would be cool Anybody dig The Pirate Signal? If you haven’t heard them, they have loads of tracks to listen to on their myspace page and their web site: http://www.myspace.com/thepiratesignal http://thepiratesignal.com/
Ahoy ... The Art Of War was the album for me, I worked in a national chain music store back when it came out; it was the kind of store that had one size fits all standards and music that was played and music that wasn't ... I used to jam TAOW every chance I could, pensively, in the hope that some head office spy or potentially problematic customer wasn't around ... Good Times!
I think he has to be the worst rapper (aside from the illegible Gucci Mane). I offer this terrible amateurism as evidence
Snoopy Dog is my fav hip hopper yo' he drops wicked beatz on mah mummahs ghettoo booty all other hop hip doesn't even compare mah niggaaaaherz!
Man, I just can’t get enough of the new Raekwon album, ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. II’. Guess putting every track on the thread would be way over the top, but I just gotta chuck these two on … Give Thanks that there are still artists creating genuine Hip-Hop: Surgical Gloves https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fegOgRYyd2g Broken Safety https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITZ-519YfJk (PS. Youtube Vids Quality … obviously not as good as the real deal)
… Anyone else dig Mobb Deep? Don’t reckon being on G-Unit and releasing ‘Blood Money’ has done anything to portray any level of progression over the years. I mean, ‘Amerikaz Nightmare’ wasn’t exceptionally fantastic, but even it was better than what G-Unit released … G-Unit, jeez, ugh, 50 Cent, hmmm … phew … Anyway, the point, I know I mentioned hoping this thread would get stuck into more recent Hip Hop, but Man, Mobb Deep’s album ‘Infamous’ is still Legend … still can’t get enough of ‘Shook Ones Pt. II’ … Yutube Vid … again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cP0wsET8__Y
