anybody more familiar with this then what his autobiography says? I called them today and subscribed to the self realisation magazine (mentioned as east-west in the biography) and am being sent an information packet on the lessons and kriya technique....has anybody else gone thru anything or familiar with this?
My wife was a member of SRF. As far as I can see, a very fine and reputable organization that's been around a long time.
Yogananda and his line of gurus contain part of the puzzle that makes up life. Learning is key, light fills that line of gurus, I dig those gurus, real deal. Of course, does that mean I agree with every single word Yogananda says? No.
Sexual harassment suit rocks spiritual movement" In the suit, his accusers describe Walters as a hypocritical guru who used his standing as spiritual leader of Ananda "to gain frequent access to young, impressionable females, with whom he could have sexual contact." http://www.anandainfo.com/sac_bee_81397.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ananda is pretty much seen as a cult. I think it is somewhat worrying. Autobiogragphy was the first spiritual book I read, and I loved it. Afterward I also sent off to Ananda for further reading. And ordered a book on yoga from them which was writeen by Walters. They wouldnt send me anything about kriya yoga however, you need to be initiated i think. I was saddened to read the above website a year or so ago :/ I am glad I read the teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramana_Maharshi, and didnt get any deeper into this organisation.
When the master passes, and their is no suitable heir to his power, the teachings themselves will begin to rot with time. Yogananda has been gone for many years... x
