Just wondering what we're looking at, here at hipforums. Got my results back a few weeks ago, a 27. Apparently that's pretty good, but I also opted to take the optional writing portion which is separate, and got a 23. It sucks because when they mail your results to colleges, they put them on the same piece of paper. Oh well. So whad'ya get?
I got a 27 and I'm not too happy about it. I was shooting for at least a 30. My SAT scores were a smidge better, though.
whatever, fuck all that shit. ACT and SAT are both terrible methods of classifying future intellectuals. i exceptionally despise the SAT--at least the ACT has some science in it. regardless, they both test a very specific skill that is in no way indicative of your success in this world or in the academic world, for that matter. i'm trying to think back to those days--i got a 28 or a 29, i forgot which. it was just short of 30. uggg, those tests.... i believe the ACT is out of 36 or so, but nobody gets that. most students entering college--at least in this country--average something like 18 or 20--that's total shit. but you two, above me, have nothing to be disappointed about. peace.
Back in the 1970s, I got a 28. I remember going east to school and the big topic of conversation freshman week was SAT scores. What's really funny--or not--is how many people my age remember those scores so many years later.
Do you know when the ACTs were first available? Because my mom doesn't remember them being around in the late 60s....
I don't know for sure. Geography might explain why your mother doesn't remember them being around in the late 60s. Students in the middle of the country are most likely to take the ACTs because colleges and universities in that part of the country required them. I went to high school in Ohio, and most of the students in my school planned to go to college or university in Ohio. For that reason, they took the ACT. Eastern schools required the SAT, so I took both tests.
I got a 28. I thought the science part was terribly difficult, though. () Reading and writing weren't bad, and math was all right.
it's amazing how we're all excellent at different things. the science part on mine was way up there around 34 or so! but i didn't do anything near that on the reading and writing.... haha. peace.
yeah i got a 34 in reading but a 23 in math. the big score was a 29, i think. i took it a year or two before the writing portion was added.
31 for total, I forget the individual ones, the lowest was 29 in reading I think? That was so long ago. Scored highest in writing I believe. The ACT is structured a lot better than SAT, IMO.
31 composite 27 math 27 english 32 science 36 reading I took it once at the beginning of my junior year to get it over with.
I decided not to fuck with ACTs. It's a pain in the ass to get them out here, anyway, since everyone's SAT crazy here. I got a 1350 on the essay, and due to being a lazy fuck, was satisfied with that. 700 on SAT2 English 630 on SAT2 Spanish (I fail at being hispanic)
