So when you were a kid what were your dreams/plans/aspirations. Did ya wanna run away and join the circus, become a fireman, travel the world? I like to review my own childhood dreams as a measure of accomplishment or sometimes as a way of assessing whether I've matured any at all. When I'm doing therapy with folks I often ask them to talk about their childhood dreams as a way of inspiring them to make some changes or movement.

When I was a boy one of my dreams was to be a Jet Pilot, Jets were still relatively new in the 50's and I had a uncle who was a pilot stationed at a nearby Air Force base. He often buzzed our little home town as a way of saying "hey" to his family. I thought that was completely cool. I also used to dream of exploring jungles and old ruins. We had no TV and I read National Geographic, Nature and a bunch of other magazines like that. I thought people who could live in the jungle were the toughest, coolest people alive.

So what were your childhood dreams? Have you met them yet? Have you changed them or out grown them? What are your current dreams and schemes?

When I was a kid I wanted to be some sort of magical creature that like hung out with buffy the vampire slayer and aided her in her quest to rid the world of evil bad guys.

Hummm...Well ya shoulda asked me cause I think that kinda stuff is totally cool. What are you doing with your education now? What kinda stuff do you do or read that relates to the dream? Even if you don't pursue it on a professional level you could stay current with the field. I love readin' Anthropology/Archeology websites/books and magazines. I'm sure theres a ton of Paleontology stuff on the web.

My dream as a young child was to change the world. lol. And it has progressed with my age. It has advanced and advanced me. I still have that same dream and goal to this day. It's brought me to be a very selfless person.. :) But i'm rather dilusional too_One man can't defeat a mountain of horse shit alone.

As a kid I would watch constant re-runs of Lawrence Welk and Sesame Street. Its all I really wanted to do. Back when my old man was around he video taped everything, bout three years back he showed me a clip one time of me when I was 5 years old pointing toward Lawrence Welk and I said "I wanna be in his band" my dad asks from behind the camera "What would you want to play", to which I reply "Anything that sounds good with it" with shrugged shoulders.

So I've always wanted to be into music of some sort, always.

My dreams as as a kid were to travel and save the world.

Now that I've grown, I'm traveling a lot. And while I'm not changing the world really, I'm doing a lot of good where I go.

So I'm fairly content living up to most of my boyhood dreams. I did have a lot of them though. Fireman, president, police officer, survivalist, scientist, actor...

It'd be hard for me to live up to all my childhood ambitions. :sunny:

My main ambition when I was younger was to be in a band. But I also knew very early on that certain things would ensure that was an ambition that I wouldn't be able to achieve.

From a very young age, I only ever really dreamed of having a normal body, and being able to live an ordinary life as myself.

I wanted to be a singer (still kinda do) but I never pursued it...

OK, I did pursue it but I screwed myself on getting anywhere with it. Now, I just sing in barrooms in the area with a guitarist...

My childhood dream was to become a chef and to own my own restaurant. Still is to this day. I am going to college for it. While I may or may not ever own my restaurant I am fulling my dream of becoming a chef.

When younger I really thought I would be a teacher. I actually did consider it as a profession but I am a perfectionist so it would be a profession that would have not been beneficial to those who would have had to put up with me. :)

When I was young all I ever wanted was to stay young forever. Obviously not very realistic.

When I was 14 I read 'Of Mice and Men' and I instantly became obsessed with their plan to buy a small place in the country, have a garden and some animals and just live off the land. I've dreamed of doing this ever since.
