mine would have to be "one hit wonder" by keller williams it isnt really, but i just thought it would be funny to say that
grateful dead - Touch of Grey i remember watching that 1 hit wonders countdown on vh1, and they said that grateful dead and jimi hendrix are actually one hit wonders. Odd huh?
well, technically speaking they are. in the world of hits, it isnt really considered a hit until the song is in the top 40. touch of grey was the only dead tune to make it to the top 40. and believe it or not, it was only All along the watchtower, that was jimi's greatest hit, and only one in the top 40. thanx to AOR from the 60s and 70s, bands could be really huge, and not really worry about what they are doing on the singles charts.
Superdrag - Who Sucked Out the Feeling It's great if you never heard it download it Coyote Shivers - Sugarhigh It's in a movie called Empire Records Haddaway - What Is Love The song from A Night At The Roxbury
Any network that bases it's reputation on being a "music channel" yet rarely plays music-related programs is obviously full of shit. And I have never heard the statement that if a song does not make it into the top 40 that it is not a hit. How can you say that a song that reaches, say, #50 on the charts is not a hit? There are plenty of Hendrix songs that everyone knows. To call him a "one hit wonder" is absurd. Perhaps "technically speaking" he is a one hit wonder, but that's like saying that he only created one song that attracted public interest. I don't know, I just don't agree.. that's like putting Hendrix in the same league as Chumbawumba or some such crap.
Zombie = Superbeast Its not even his best song but after the matrix came out it suddenlly resurfaced all the way back from the 90s...
Do you know what a 'one hit wonder' is? If you've had more than one hit, ala Devilman, Dragula, Superbea,st, More Human Than Human, Never Gonna Stop Me, hell even Living Dead Girl you are not a 'one hit wonder'. Did you even read the name of the thread?
^agreed man what is love is so catchy my brother used to play it when hed drive me and my friends to go get food.
Jimi had Top 10 hits in the UK before ever coming to the US with "Hey Joe" and "Purple Haze". So, technically speaking, he is not a one-hit wonder. My favorite one-hit wonder song is Mambo Number 5
"Play that funky music white boy" by The Wild Cherries (I think) and "The Final Countdown" by Europe (NOT QUEEN)
"The Safety Dance" by Men at Work (actually I'm not sure if this is by them, maybe not. Anyway for anyone who ever watched MTV when it actually had videos on it, that one was strangely fun. Something like a bunch of people who are dressed like they just escaped from a renaissance fair, dancing with the little folks in the country. I don't know, it's been a long time since I saw it. Oh, and I really love "cruel summer" by Bananarama although I don't think that they were considered one hit wonders. As far as songs by the Dead or Jimi, although they may technically be one hit wonders because they only had one hit on the top 40 charts (thank god) I could never think of them as one hit wonders. To me, one hit wonders are just a catchy tune from bands that usually suck. This is not the case with a lot of bands or songs. There are many bands that have only had one song on the radio (example: Rusted Root: Send Me on My Way) who I would never think of as one hit wonders. But I guess they would be considered so since when I bring them up to people who aren't "in the know" they usually say " oh don't they sing Send Me on My Way".
