so the question seems to be how much you value the money versus how much you value your life

also, with each box you open, the real value of the money decreases (100,000 would keep you from starving, pay for medical care, etc, whereas there wouldn't be much difference between 9 million and 9.1 million, unless you were planning to give the money away) whereas the probability of death would increase

the probability would presumably be 1/100 of death, 1/99, ect. until it reached 1/1

 

I'd subcontract the whole thing. Give the box opener 5%. I'm sure there'd be lots of takers.
