Has anyone done any work with Youth Pride? It's an organization which I assume runs across the country - here in Rhode Island it's pretty active - for queer kids. It does some great work, making all sorts of resources available and simply bringing a sense of community to kids who don't have family or school support. I happen to have both, but go to meetings often to make friends and hear about the other kids' experiences. So is this just a local thing, or what?
I think that every city has something like it. Here in Minneapolis, we have a place called District 202. Dunno how it got its name, but from what you describe, it has the same function as your Youth Pride. Here's a link: www.dist202.org
Here in Seattle is the Lambert House, which is geared towards queer youth ages 14-22. www.lamberthouse.org I'm sure every major city and some of the smaller ones have some form of support group for young GLBT.
kind of unrelated seeing as I don't live in the usa but in NZ and specifically in wellington where I live is an organisation called Schools Out. Its for kids aged 13-21 and is completely confidential... if anyone wants the contact address they can email me.
I attend group discussionsand volunteer withYouth Pride in Decatur,Georgia the website to our location is Youthpride.org

Y'all are so lucky ~ the only thing anywhere near here in perfect rich republican suburbia (aka Richboro, Pennsylvania - a suburb of Philly) is the William Way House in center city, Philadelphia, about an hour (on a good day) from where I live. I really wish we had a local group, orginization, or center out here, but being as we ARE rich, republican suburbia, forming of one isn't a near-future possibility. Really, the only 3 out people I know in my area are me, my best friend Rob, and my old 8th grade English teacher.
