Yeah I saw that. Pretty lame its in the news. People should actually watch Bill Maher's show, and not just get all giddy when a funny guy smokes weed.

I wonder if Zach was influenced by the Canadian activist who sparked up on live tv. Pretty cool though that two people sparked up on tv within two-three weeks of one another.

Though both acts amount to very little unfortunately.

Actually, I think they both have quite a large effect. Weed has been hinted about and skirted around for years. Many actors, comedians and musicians have come out in support of it... But very very few of them (if any?) have sparked one up on popular tv...

It makes it that much harder to be a quiet side issue when people do things like this.

That's true. I just feel that, at least in Zach's case, it gives closed minded people more reason to think, "he's that weird comedian from that weird movie, that's what pot smokers are like."

Users will see it as a cool but subtle out reach whereas those against it will think his strange character is solely attributed to weed.

I don't really look at it from a point of view of who will find it cool or not... I don't think that's the important part. The important part is seeing that people accept it beyond just saying they do...

Although nobody else at the table took it, not one of them said, Hey you can't do that... They all just LAUGHED...

I can't imagine a better indication of its status...

Besides all that, it is always the weird ones who come out and do things like this publicly, they are who pave the road for the more 'shy' ones...

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of it that way. I was surprised by the reaction of the guy at CBC when this guy sparked up. The news guy clearly couldn't care less. He almost looked as though he wanted to say, "pass it dude."

that 70s show took care of that a long time ago and with actors under the age of 18!... (most of the scenes where they were in the basement toking the smoke was created by a smoke machine, but many times they were actually getting high)

Actually that's a prime example of what I mean... Not once in that show did they ever show them smoking pot... Well, not that I can remember anyways... It was always inferred that they did by the smokey room and their attitudes.

I like Zach Galifianakis a whole lot, he's a genuinely hilarious person, but if you were watching the show I thought the behavior was stupid. They were talking about about Prop 19, it was pretty clear Zach was either fucked up or super anxious being on live TV, and so when the topic turned to weed he thought it would be clever to pull out his personal supply. I liked how he passed it to the Fox News contributor bimbo, who I applaud for at least taking it from him.

How would you act knowing you were in front of potentially millions of people?

You wouldn't be able to see me for the smoke surrounding me... and if you did... it likely wouldnt be pretty... lol

Most people assume that scenes like that are faked.

    http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2010/11/02/zach-galifianakis-lit-up-a-fake-joint-on-real-time/?hpt=Sbin

    Heroes to Zeroes...

    Just like that.

No matter what way you look at this, they all just suck balls... IF it was a real joint and they are just spinning it, then Zach should be screaming it from the top of his smoke filled lungs... He isn't, so he sucks... Maher sucks because he should be backing him on it...

IF it wasnt real, then he still sucks for trying to play to the audience and not showing any actual backbone, plus Maher sucks for not calling him out on it right then and there...

If we want marijuana prohibition to be repealed, the way to do it is not through deceit... The same goes for the rest, although they may deserve some slack seems its possible they may really have no clue what weed really smells like...

At least the Canadian had the balls to actually smoke real weed and be up front about it. First in the House of Commons and then on the news.

I agree with his, and I try to catch it when I can, but sometimes he just depresses me. He's like the cynical Jon Stewart, and some days I've just had it with his judgmental bullshit and change the channel. I'm all for being educated and being exposed to information and opinions and all of that, but you can't spend every day all day being depressed and angry... I realize that there is a lot to be depressed and angry about in this day and age, especially in this country, but sometimes I think being deliberately inflammatory isn't always the best approach. When you turn people off to your message, no one hears it.

Sam Mellace operates one of the largest commercial, industrial grow ops in the world. A camera crew filmed his operation and interviewed him for a program in the US. He was absolutely delighted with himself and his operation.

I have my sound card disabled, but if he didn't cough it ain't the real thing...

On the other hand if it was real, he might be disclaiming it for his PR, cause the networks won't let him on live again if they fear he might spark a fatty. It could hurt his career. How hypocritical that would be for the networks (whose execs are either pot lovers or coke lovers or both)

If Zack and Bill are claiming it was a fake joint, this is a standard "cover our ass" denial, delivered with a wink. Just like Janet Jackson's claim that she had a "wardrobe malfunction" at the Superdome, which just happened to result in a tittie flash, which New Orleans just happens to be known for. Yeah, right. Their lawyers are simply doing their jobs, trying to protect their clients.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? If they didnt want to take the risk, then they shouldn't have taken the the risk...

To either lie about taking that risk, or to deny it afterward is just exposing themselves as posers...
