A Depressing Shopping Experience

Downtown Los Angeles.

Shopping for a suit, or a jacket and pants.

So I went where the garments are sold, and where fabric abounds, and where prices are cheap(er). I went downtown.

Most of the cuts that I saw on men's jackets were for the more slender man. Or the garments were shiny looking. Some had designs added onto them (like flowers made with by embroidery). They were not designed with my Central European sensibilities/sensitivities in mind.

Then I passed vendor after vendor after vendor on the street. It was an endless array of junk and crap. Every now and again there would be a food vendor with a griddle that was cooking up something hot and spicey. Add to the mix, some of these food vendors had live animals that they were selling. I saw red-eared turtles, bunnies, parakeets, puppies, and kittens in plastic boxes right next to all of this food. I thought I would die!

So, I wound up going to the Men's Wearhouse in Pasadena. I had a young salesman named Brock who told me the prices of everything before offering them to me. He'd even tell me if something was on sale and what it was reduced from. The lad made himself a nice commission. And the store made itself a good customer!
