More On My Experiences.

Like I said, my Uncle Al hated all mentally ill people. They were eating at the buffet we went to Sundays. Or maybe working there, I still don't know the details. He made sure I overheard what he said that one time, but he didn't go into detail. Because he had be the victim of one, wronged by one. Namely me, because I used the word explicitly and asked to go to 7-11 once. And now he wanted revenge. Why not just throw me in a jail cell for life, he started saying around 2004. And waxing philosophical, he pointed out they'd feed and clothe me there, and I could never refuse their treatment. It actually had some advantages, he pointed out. I also heard others talk of that back then, but I might have misunderstood. I thought maybe it was an idea, maybe at least among ultra conservatives. I wasn't sure. I know the very conservative John Engler was governor of Michigan up till around this time. And the very conservative George W. Bush was president, along with his nutty and conservative attorney general John Ashcroft at the time. Some people online seemed to tell me they were leaning that way. And I did bring it up with my 2011 therapist, who did tell me even if that's what people wanted, to lock all the mentally ill in jail cells, it would still be very expensive. Where would the criminals and people awaiting trial go, he pointed out.

But you know I was thinking recently, people do sometimes think like my Uncle Al. They aren't nearly as immature, selfish or evil. But in our culture you are allowed to express your hatred for the mentally ill, or at least fear and apprehension. You're allowed to use derogatory slurs and insults. It's kind of required almost it seems, especially if they do a crime. I did for example have a psychology teacher in 1995 who seemed to hate the mentally ill. I was telling my mother about a couple of things he said. And in the text book that he selected for us, it said that locking mentally ill back in institutions was the only logical way to go. I feared hearing about that for some time, until 2004. When people started threatening me with a long jail or prison stay, put there by whatever means they could find. I'll try to remember more and more detail about what I mean, it started around then I know. And actually they are the only group that you can say that about. Why not just lock them all up somewhere and be done with it, I often hear people say. Like they were just objects to them. Object, like I seem to be treated now once again.
