More On My Views.

I was going to say about my moral views and how I classify myself. Back in 1994 I got the book from the college book store, Utilitarianism: For and Against by J. J. C. Smart. And I was very impressed by it and drawn to it. My moral and political views were already evolving in that direction anyways, that motive is not as important as result, it's really not important at all. It's just important that we live in a just society where everyone is healthy and happy. So for a while I thought maybe I was utilitarian. But utilitarianism does have some problems. Not to digress, but for a while as a young adult I thought I might be a deist. We learned about deism in my senior year in HS. And my chemistry/physics teacher told us once he basically was. Right after I learned of it, which was ironic. (Yeah, he was a study in contrasts. Very conservative, unlike me. But also very rational and very pragmatic in some of his approaches. But I was disappointed one day when he told us he believed in UFO conspiracies and reverse engineering theories. After a student said he saw a reverse engineered alien space craft at an army base.) Anyways, I don't know what you'd call my overall position. I guess it's a mixture of a lot of things, like most people. I was going to just tell people I was a utilitarian, so that I could summarize my views in the least words and have them look into it too. I guess I could still say that a little. Or maybe just say how I draw from that too.
