My Views.

Like I said, for over 30 years I have been a consequentialist more or less. But I still think good motives are important and believe in moral accountability of course.

It's like the interesting story of Henry Ford. His method of leading to unprecedented wealth for billionaires was called Fordism. By paying his employees more he was reinvesting in the economy and the money came back to him. But he was a very evil man. He supported the Nazis (at first at least). He had some good qualities I guess, but even for his time he was known to be very mean. But that's what people like Jeremy Bentham were talking about when they said evil motives can have good results. Except now I think moderate forms of socialism like they have in places like Sweden work best. They have the highest standard of living in the world. And they have universal health care, mandatory paid vacations and all the freedoms we have. But the US had the highest standard of living in the world, until 1989 IIRC.
