if your a musician, what instrument do you play?

As a school boy, for several days I started to learn the clarinet, having listened to a supply teacher practicing during lunch breaks. I don't read music, so was playing, by ear. Here is what he was trying to teach me:

 

Had a dabble on an acoustic years ago and piano. Then moved on to a Bass Guitar and finally settled on the Drums. Learnt to play by reading music...

 

I play guitar, but I don't play very often anymore.

 

I’m a violinist, in a full time professional symphony orchestra.

I've been progressing more on keyboard than guitar. I just play whatever sounds good. If I hit upon a familiar riff I will try to figure out the rest of the song, or I will transform the riff into something else, which I enjoy more.

I like rephrasing a riff, making it my own. No copyright worries that way.

Everyone's a drummer it seems. As I improve my drumming, my keyboard playing improves. I don't have a drum kit. I use my keyboard or anything that makes a sound.

I do have pads on my Akai MKII pro but rarely use them or the MK. My keyboard has rythym, as well as other band accompaniment. One day I'll have to let someone hear me play, lol.

 

On another note, I'm using Studio One software. Anyone else using that? I should start another thread on music software.

 

For years I used Cakewalk and Sonar... but I don't have any of the newer DAW software...
