No state tax on personal income. If you are looking at your total tax bill, Florida consistently ranks in the top five for states with lowest overall personal taxes. The exact ranking depends on the weighting of variables.

Cost of living is only 3 percent over the median for the US.

Housing is relatively affordable. With a median home value of $232,000, the states with home values clustered around Florida are Vermont, Minnesota, Idaho, and Wyoming. Florida is just below the national median.

If you like warm weather, Florida has the warmest average temperature of any state, even edging out Hawaii by a fraction of a degree. Florida's average annual temperature is 20 degrees warmer than the four states that immediately follow it on the list of states by population - New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Ohio.

Home gardener? With its warm and humid climate, long growing season, and relatively rich soil, it's an ideal place to grow many fruits and vegetables at home.

    The damn politics... Damnit

I hate they're putting a stop to squatting rights, that totally ruins my plans of getting a new summer home every year. Who do they think they are, taking my God given rights to steal.

And not allowing retail theft? Crap, that means I might have to start buying stuff. I'm really not a scumbag because I want to take free stuff from others who have more than I. Just raise the prices on everything a little more and share those profits with me and my fellow vagrants. Y'all need to pay your fair share!

Can you believe... They're putting the brakes on porch piracy! I don't know how I'll manage without Christmas all year long. It's making me depressed

The audacity of not allowing children to transition! I know plenty of toddlers who are well aware they are trapped in a body the opposite gender of their minds. Now they have to live that horror until they're adults. And who knows, they could change their minds and have to deal with that horror all their lives.

And if all that's not bad enough, apparently they've lowered the minimum wage! Now the school kids with their summer jobs and part time jobs have no chance of making a living wage performing menial tasks to help rich people. This is pure nuts. And what about us full grown kids? It doesn't make sense that I would have to gain knowledge and become skilled in order to earn my keep. The simple fact that I'm creating CO2 and excrement should be totally adequate to validate me to receive a living wage. I mean come on, I'm disadvantaged. And this is America!

    Florida and DeSantis...

I think i first went from my home in nc in abt 86, a few wks b4 xmas. I was extremely with a flu. 3guys in our 20s 30s & 40s. In a 62 vw van. I was the only able driver. We started getting hi winds in mid ga. Was all i could to keep on road. We brokedown in ns bch. & hung out there a few wks. 2 of went bak home to nc. Leaving oldest of us there. Hed taken off to daytona anyway. I came bak with another friend abt a wk b4 ocala. Abt jan 25th. We stopped in nsb to put word out in bars etc for my older friend. Then we proceeded to seedcamp. & got stuck in sand. Id kept asking my friend to stop car so i could listen for drums or see a kite. Id previously a few potlux & drmcircs. Betw 82 & then. But was my first reg. Only my2nd fl trip. Heard drums & saw kite. Got to wh got a tow vehicle. Stayed only a few days. My friend was too much of a handful. Hed wrecked mine & a couple other tents. We went back to nsb. Found my older friend. & returned to nc. I returne to fl several times afterward. Til abt 96.

As someone who grew up there as a kid and is planning to revisit for the sake of taking my son to Disney World... the beach. I dislike amusement parks, hot climates, I like to have all four seasons christmas never felt like Christmas when there wasn't any cold or snow growing up. I'd say the only thing I truly miss is the beach, and living in florida is more expensive as I have a few family members still there.

Don't under estimate the vibes of fall or winter, it doesn't feel like fall there either. I love the leaves and the pumpkins, it's just better. BUT occasionally visit for the beach cause that's what's missing truely.

I admire our Governor for his conservative views on a whole bunch of issues. And of course who could not love the winter weather down here , every morning I wake up to Paradise !
