actually, Pluto is mostly ice, methane, nitrogen and carbon monoxide....... but they do think it might have a rocky core
well i know i'd pitch a fit and probably blow something up. like the earth's moon. that'd show the IAU.
wow this is generating quite a controversy......... I think there are those that believe in perserving history and keeping pluto as a planet..... just because it has been a planet for 76 years.....
madcrappie, Whatever happened to the CalTech discovery of a tenth planet which they (meaning nerds) codenamed Xena after the tv show Xena, Warrior Princess (btw If any of those nerds even saw a pussy they'd probably faint) but that's beside the point...... If their proven correct then we're back to 9 planets Hotwater
keeping it simple? if they now have two different categories (planets and dwarf planets) how is that more simple?
how could you have heard about this over a year ago???????????/ it just happened. they voted on it just today.
that "planet" falls under the same category as pluto. its pretty much the same makeup as pluto. there were 3 more "planets" that the IAU was going to name as planets, and that included xena.....
in order to be classified as a planet according to the IAU, it has to have a regular orbit, much larger than pluto, and have at least some of a gravitational pull........
I don't know but I'm not lying. Maybe I just heard someones opinion or something though- like before it was official? I know I heard though a long time ago that by definition and criteria Pluto is not a planet because I remember telling people about it.
well, yeah, theyve been contemplating it since the 90s.......... but now its official, and the former planet will be removed from textbooks........ I guess the widow of the discoverer of pluto is all shook up about the news....
here's the old one: My Very Earnest Mother Just Served Us Nine Pickles Stephen colbert's new one: My Very Educated Mother Just Said "Uh-oh! No Pluto!"
