Why assume blunt ends = not "natural"? I'm only 2 months in with my dreads and already the ends are blunting BY THEMSELVES. They were loosely backcombed in and left (without wax) to get on with it. They haven't been crotcheted, tip-rubbed, blanket stitched  or whatever else it is peeps do to their ends to blunt them. They're just looping and wrapping themselves up and I've lost around 2 inches of length off quite a few of them already. Isn't that how the dreading process works, or am I missing something?

Maybe I should just try a white cider soak, then sleep on a park bench for a couple of days... :p

when u callred chemical free dreads nswtural thats clearly false as almost all dreAds are chemical free inlkess they start with dread perms
wax isnt e\ven a chemical and is natural (but wax is a candle not a dread) the term natural dreadlocks is the same as neglect whichj isnt a proper term either since its not purely neglect at all
natural dreads are a blanket term used for dreads that had little otr no help in forming, they forem naturaly all by themselves ,the nbatural procesess can be controlled somewhat through ripping beads dips in the ocean whatyever thast doesnt mean that the locks were not alowed to happen on theyre own
its not a term to set anyone on a pedastal or make them elite however it is a specific term applied to a specific process
each process gives different results and if your hoping for a more controlled manufactured look you use a manufacturing methiood, but if you want a natural look you use a natural methisd
its just a prefference..mine happens to be a natural prefference

im just clarifying, i dont think he knew the difference and thought all dreads were backcombed (thanks dreadheadhq)

you remember that kid whjo put glue in his dreads? the salon that screwed him up advertised natural dreads as anmything that wasnt sybrgetic hair

i think we do ned a certain level of clareity, its not elitism but without clarity kids will believe its natural to put glue in theyre hair

therefore natural dreads are those thart occurered mostly on theyuere own
backcombed chemical free dreads are simply that cjhemical free

without having precice definitions of what a natural dread is we get everything being natural that isnt synthetic
and thats nost not the way oit is

wiothin natural (occurring on theyre own) theres degrees of naturalness if u swam in the ocean ripped ..or pissed in your hair..lol
but outside of thenm occurring on theyre own you have varius degrees of backcoming (wax crochette tip blunting palm rolling...whatrever u do to get what u got)
but once u backcomb your not taking the natural route inless ofcourse the backcombing comes out dxompletely returning to prebackcomb conmditions thenj alowed to dread from there

its also possible for baclcombed or twist rip dreads to acheive a more natural look or iin some cases naturals to acheive a backcombed look (not all naturals have no blunty tips it all depends on tyhe will of the dread)

i just think without some clarity of what is meant by natural theres too much room for scammers selling naturakl dreads caked in glue

I'm not much into this debate. Talk about splitting hairs....sheesh.

Anyway, I love your dreads. I want to see them when they grow longer, that'll be even more impressive!

    Nice job.
