Because all the newspaper editors, all the TV execs, board members etc that decide what goes to air are all in that high risk age range. And younger tv reporters want to keep their jobs

Which is why you don't see any interviews with 70 yr old patients, no collages of the pics of nursing home folks that have died, instead we get 3 stories a day along with the pictures of younger people that got a cold for a couple of days

There is no mainstream voice for the young, for the unemployed, for the poor at the moment

 

There is going to a titanic global mental health crisis in about 3 months. Sickness, people not being able to pay bills, the toll of self isolation. It is going to be tragic.
