Remember a couple months ago, it was one of those things used to scare people into lockdowns: Covid causes permanent lung damage

If every expert is always right and everything your government tells you is always true; then why now won't you be able to find a single fuckin case of permanent Covid lung damage?

Trump was always going to be right about an upper respiratory disease not being as contagious in warmer weather

Not just not as contagious, but not as deadly as well, as our immune systems cope better in the summer

If you are interested on a personal level, Florida has the highest proportion of over 65 years that don't need assisted care in your whole country. There is a reason for that

CNN reporter at the Trump rally, no gloves, no eye protection, and not a N95 mask

You really have to wonder about the logic of these guys. Whether it's to protect themselves or others; why only go half way?

    I don't know...

I mean, they do frequently come out against the President. But I feel like they're doing so from the standpoint of being against the virus.

Often, President Trump seems to place the seriousness of pandemic as secondary to other things; for example the economy, or in this case a rally.

It creates the impression (an impression that is already a burning question in the minds of most Americans) that the worst has passed and that it's safe to proceed.

I don't think we're in the clear yet. I would point to the 2 sick staffers from the rally as evidence that coronavirus was alive and well at the rally. I hope they get well soon.

"Here, we show how influenza-like illness (ILI) outpatient surveillance data can be used to estimate the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2. We found a surge of non-influenza ILI above the seasonal average in March 2020 and showed that this surge correlated with COVID-19 case counts across states. If 1/3 of patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 in the US sought care, this ILI surge would have corresponded to more than 8.7 million new SARS-CoV-2 infections across the US during the three-week period from March 8 to March 28, 2020"

Using influenza surveillance networks to estimate state-specific prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 in the United States

A possible 9 million more Americand infected in March

Well the unfortunate fact is the economy IS MORE IMPORTANT than the pandemic if the economy does not start moving lives are going to get even worse people need to eat ,work etc, Imagine for a moment if ABSOLUTELY everything shut down for a week or two how many would die? do you have enough supplies to live for a week or two without replenishing ANYTHING? What if the power grid goes down?

    yea.

The Trump administration likes to pretend there is only one option though: reopen. Everything should be on the table, and I feel like that's not the case.

I think that the alternatives that have been looked at are similar to the approach that has been used. The main thing is that we've reopened decidedly earlier than necessary or recommended by the CDC or WHO, and that now there is an increase in cases.

This in combination with not having adequate or universal testing measures in place seems disorderly and subpar in my own personal opinion.

I think the better strategy would be to use a "wait-and-see" approach to reopening, while supplementing the economy via stimulus and keeping businesses operating with maximum social distancing; i.e. masks and gloves, delivery-only, special hours for seniors, etc.

The CDC has been bumbling about and made a FIASCO out of the initial testing by using contaminated tests so their ability to guide is severely compromised IMO... so substantially increasing debt load by providing more stimulus to individuals?

Why doesn't any of the responsibility fall on the shoulders of the administration? I'm sure they have some input.

I believe their input is whats going on yes? you suggested further stimulus yet it seems as if you balked at that now realizing that , that increase debt load?

It's not the debt load. I don't want a reelection. I think that when we get a stimulus, everybody goes "hurray" and he gets votes.

ok so now what? no stimulus and staggered reopening? that is what we have going on now, IMO going backwards is a bad idea inching forward is the way to go, stimulus ? I will get by with or without so......

    Yea... :(

lol. Whatever will be will be. People will learn to get by with a President they don't like and policies that don't fit their definition.
