Re the March of dimes--I remember it well and brought many dimes to school.

Sierra---it's pretty easy to identify the cult members. But it does no good to post facts or argue with them. I gave it up for sure.

Apparently relying on data and facts make one a Trump cult member?

Only took another 18 years to get to the Oral vaccine that stamped out the disease

Well it was Pfizer that first made Sabins oral vaccine. So all those dimes just eventually helped Pfizer's shareholders at the time

And I actually got the dates wrong, 38 was the first March of the Dimes, The oral vaccine didn't go into production until 61, so 23 years

And the disease wasn't official eradicated in America until 94, 56 years later

What do you think now about the chances of a Sars-CoV-2 vaccine 12-18 months after March 2020? And it actually being eradicated within 20 years?

And btw, Polio only ever adversely affected 5% of the population, some 111 years after first being identified as a virus, they still don't know why 5%

So, basically nobody should have ever come up with a vaccine... Fuck those 5%, they deserved it, right?

The Iron lung used negative pressure to keep the polio patients breathing during the early stages of the disease, as are the ventilators today
being used to keep the covid-19 patients breathing during the more advanced stages of the disease.

Enter Trump supporters, right on cue...............

Fauci says "serious threats" have been made against him and his family

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for more than three decades, has grappled with several public health crises, including the AIDS epidemic
and now, COVID-19. In an interview with CNN's David Axelrod, Fauci said the magnitude of criticism he is receiving now is different than in the past, and that he and his family have been seriously threatened.

Fauci said the amount of hate mail and serious threats are "not good."

"It's tough," he said. "Serious threats against me, against my wife, against my daughters. I mean, really? Is this the United States of America?" Fauci said.

When Axelrod asked if he took on security measures, Fauci said yes, he's been given security. The Department of Justice confirmed in April that federal officials were ramping up security
for Fauci after threats were made against him.

I was exposed to polio when I was in a high school play with a guy that got it and ended up in an iron lung. I didn't get it.

You were lucky because polio is highly contagious,

No more Sabin Sunday’s, now its Saban Saturdays watching Alabama take on the rest of the SEC.

    As do you

Why do you think New York is worse? You clearly don't see how major population centers with literally dozens of countries flying in each day to do business matters so what could it be genius?

Good point. For the first 10 years of my life the threat of polio was ever present. My next door neighbor caught it and wound up with problems in one leg. As one who experienced those times I can say one one who did would be callous about that disease or understate the the relief when the Salk vaccine became available by injection.
