IZA institute of labour economics paid for by DHL's Charity Foundation (tax dump)

So in other words, Democrat sponsers in the US re-routing money to get a bunch of economists to do a pretend epidemiology study

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, who stressed South Dakotans' personal responsibility and never issued a shelter-in-place order for her state, criticized the paper as "fiction" on Tuesday.

“Under the guise of academic research, this report is nothing short of an attack on those who exercised their personal freedom to attend Sturgis,” Noem said in a statement. “Predictably, some in the media breathlessly report on this non-peer reviewed model, built on incredibly faulty assumptions that do not reflect the actual facts and data."

"At one point, academic modeling also told us that South Dakota would have 10,000 COVID patients in the hospital at our peak," she continued. "Today, we have less than 70. I look forward to good journalists, credible academics, and honest citizens repudiating this nonsense.”

Given the number of participants I’m surprised the number is as low as it is.

Fortunately most of the events were held outside otherwise it would have been a health crisis for the ages.

If any of it was actually true you would have had hospitals near the epicenter, Rapid city, all of South Dakota swamped with Covid cases

Ultimately, it's the younger generations you need the most to help stop the spread of the disease, and they need a certain amount of trust in the media and government officials to really bother

Assuming you and those that think like you are most interested in stopping the spread of the virus rather than playing silly partisan political games

This "study" is too ridiculous, it's going to do more harm than good

Most kids are back at school or college now, 70 million or so, 15 to 25 million BLM protesters running about over summer, but one bike rally in SD that had a fair share of Trump supporters supposedly did all the damage

It is my opinion you lost young people's trust in the media and government 6 months ago

"Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is facing calls to end the state’s night-time curfew immediately, after it was revealed that the unprecedented restriction was not based on medical advice."

Brett Sutton says he did not recommend curfew

Gatherings in England will be reduced dramatically from next week amid a spike of COVID-19 infections raising fears of a second wave.

“We need to act now to stop the virus spreading,” UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday.

There were 2460 new coronavirus cases reported in the UK on Tuesday and 2094 of those were in England.

The daily case total did not rise above 1000 for all of July and – prior to September – it last reached the 2000s in May.

Coronavirus: Oxford University vaccine trial paused after participant falls ill

Final clinical trials for a coronavirus vaccine, developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University, have been put on hold after a participant had a suspected adverse reaction in the UK.

AstraZeneca described it as a "routine" pause in the case of "an unexplained illness".

The outcome of vaccine trials is being closely watched around the world.

    1. I dont think you guys can afford another lockdown

    2. Now would be way too early. It is my opinion that all of UK and Europe was going to get hit again in Winter, no matter what you did, lock down again now, and everyone will be completely fed up in 4 months time when you really need it. Look at that graph above, tell me its not seasonal

I agree. I don't think it will be a total lockdown otherwise the country will be bankrupt. It will be possibly "soft" targets like public houses, restaraunts ,hairdressers, beauticians ,care home visits ,places of worship . Closure or restrictive measures on these whilst not being good wouldn't shut the country down totally economically . It will also be damaging for mental health but these don't seem to count when these decisions are made.

I know I sound harsh here and this is just my view . It really annoys me that we the majority have to tread on egg shells to help protect the minority. It should be in my view for the minority to manage their own situation/risk and if necessary lockdown with the aid of friends or relatives to help out with shopping etc .

My wife's mother is 87 and diabetic and has been in lockdown since March . She hasn't been out to the latest Marks and Spencer Sale like I have seen other pensioners doing. Instead we have been attending to all her needs including shopping. Both my wife, myself and her brother and partner have all had the virus so we can confidently call on her . We still have to sanitise etc as there is a chance of the virus being present on surfaces eg skin etc.

Going back to you point yes it does look seasonal . What's worrying is you will start getting seasonal flu mixed in and some of those who are eligible havn't been able to get a flu jab. Without testing which is also in a mess its probably going to be difficult to differentiate between Covid and Flu as some of the symptoms are similar . So probably like yourself I am expecting figures to escalate .

Honestly this country is in a mess. Its like a grenade eating a trifle ie one bloody mess .

That's what the plan should have been from the start, we will be dealing with this for years. There is no way any vaccine is adequately going to protect 70+ year Olds. And there is no way in hell we are going to convince enough of the population to take the very first vaccines within the first 12 months of them existing

The lockdowns in first half of 2020 just contribute to making the situation worse in 2021,2022. The experts did, or should have known this

Peru just overtook Spain and will overtake France within a week to rank 7th worldwide for countries with the highest covid death tolls

Can you remember your media ever mentioning Peru?

Just google "Peru Covid" to see what I mean

None of the world's major news networks. Bizarre

Peru extends emergency for 90 days amid COVID-19 resurgence

LIMA, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Peru extended Friday the national state of emergency for another 90 days due to a resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"As of July of this year, an increase in COVID-19 cases has been observed in several regions, as well as in Metropolitan Lima and Callao, where the situation persists," a government decree said.

During every pandemic there are stories like this which touch the heart.

Married Couple Die of Coronavirus 4 Minutes Apart, Holding Hands for the Last Time: 'They Were a Blessing'

A family in North Carolina is weathering two tragedies after a husband and wife died just minutes apart from each other following a month-long battle with the novel coronavirus

Johnny Lee Peoples, 67, and his wife Cathy Darlene Peoples, 65, died of COVID-19 on Sept. 2 at Novant Health Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, according to their joint obituary.

The couple had been struggling with coronavirus for 30 days when they were placed in a room together for a final goodbye, their surviving son Shane Peoples said.

"Everything just went south, everything just got worse," he told WBTV. “The next day [medical staff] put them in the same room, same ICU room, they put their hands together,
the nurses gathered around and they passed within four minutes of each other."

"They were married 48 years, been together 50, they walked hand in hand for those 50 years," Shane said of his parents.
