TBH every fatality will have a story behind it like this . Its just that many are kept private .Even just one fatality is one too many

I think the best thing that could happen would be for Trump to get the virus . He then may see this virus in a different light. Boris our PM IMO went too much the other way resulting in some fantasised ideas but his heart is in the right place .

Republicans usually don't think an issue matters until they have personal experiences with it. Gays are bad until their child is that way. It's "just a flu" until their dad dies. Or my favorite in the 1980's they said black people were just weak and crack addiction was not real. But when all their white friends are addicted to Oxy only then does an addict need help and not prison time. In each case you are supposed to give them the sympathy they never gave you.

Trump would never admit he was weak enough to get a virus but it would go a long way to reaching his cult.

The fact that "weak" ones only get the virus is a myth .

I have had the virus last March and keep very fit and my BMI and weight is all within healthy parameters . I shook it off within a week. My brother who I got it who is also fit ,ended up being hospitalised in a ICU . Thankfully he is fine .My wife and my brothers wife ( who is black ) were both asymptomatic . It affects people in different ways .

Personally I am glad in a way that me and my wife have had it as we can shield her mother who is 87 and Diabetic more effectively .

"For example, the virus infects cells by attaching to receptors on the surface of certain cells. That receptor is abundant on fat cells and scientists are studying whether that makes them “a good nest for the virus,” said Dr. Francois Pattou at the University of Lille in France, who has co-authored research on the link between obesity and severe COVID-19 illness."

'As part of their study, the researchers collected blood samples from 39 COVID-19 patients who had been admitted to Charité for treatment. The researchers used these blood samples to isolate immune cells which they then stimulated with specially synthesized fragments of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Using specific dyes to make them visible, the researchers then counted T-helper cells which had reacted to the viral fragments. As a last step, the researchers tested whether there might be a link between the number of activated T-helper cells and the patients' risk factors.

The researchers were able to show a positive correlation between the frequency of virus-specific T-helper cells and the patients' age. The same positive correlation was found to exist in relation to the 'Comorbidity Index', a compound measure expressing the severity of 19 different underlying medical conditions: the higher the patient's Comorbidity Index, the higher the number of SARS-CoV-2-specific T-helper cells in their blood."

'Molecular brake' on the immune system could be potential treatment target for severe COVID-19

There is something else going on they haven't quite figured out yet

Deaths worldwide are just too rare for people under 40

Currently sitting at under 0.1% if you go by official cases, if the anti-body studies are true and X 20 that have ever been infected, then it's 1/20th of 0.1%

    1in 1000 to 1 in 20,000 type range

Doesn't make sense to just be about the virus, the respiratory side of it anyway, with those kind of numbers

Yeah, but world is up to 28 1/2 million official cases, roughly half of that would be under 40s

But Number of deaths under 20 is still in the dozens, 20 - 40s still in the hundreds

That's way to rare to be about a respiratory virus, has to be something rare in the blood or arteries, or kidneys or something

Yes this 28 year old died, but how many millions of 20 somethings have been infected and haven't died...5,10 million?

Also, we still seem to be making the same mistake we were making in 1918

Infected come to hospital and are grouped together in the same ward with other infected, upping everyone's viral load

The three hundred doctors writing to the WHO saying; hang on a minute this isn't just air droplets, it's aerosol as well...that was 4 months ago

If it was Ebola outbreak they would be all in their own plastic tents, and that's not even spread through the air

I agree with you in the main as I don't prescribe to his politics very well as you may well know already.

However if he hadn't had the virus and was ill with it as we all know , I am not sure if the NHS would have been shielded the same and he could have possibly gone down the Trump route. So its possibly a blessing in disguise that he did suffer from it .

The point I was trying to make is she's morbidly obese which jives with the research.

Covid recovered patients volunteer in Israeli hospital

Jerusalem's Hadassah hospital has been recruiting recovered Covid-19 patients to volunteer inside its coronavirus wards to help patients there.

Under the pilot scheme, they visit patients in moderate or serious condition, who would otherwise be in isolation. The volunteers help the patients eat or just lend a listening ear.

The hospital believes the project to be the first of its kind in the world. And it is likely to be closely watched, given the still unclear science on how much antibody immunity recovered Covid-19 patients have."

Students with COVID throw wild party

A group of American college students were caught on camera hosting a party and admitting to a police officer that they had tested positive to COVID-19.

Police from the town of Oxford, Ohio, were called to the scene because the partygoers were blatantly ignoring social distancing rules, with more people at the house than restrictions allowed, and no-one wearing masks.

While investigating, police discovered that one of the Miami University students was an active case of coronavirus.

So it takes until September to talk about winter

US could see a 'very deadly December' with tens of thousands of coronavirus death to come, computer model predicts

"An influential model is predicting a catastrophic winter with a significant rise in coronavirus deaths.

A possible scenario sees 415,090 Covid-19 deaths by January, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington says in its latest forecast. The worst-case scenario is 600,000 deaths by January 1."
