    more clickbait I guess...lol...

CDC reverses course on testing for asymptomatic people who had Covid-19 contact

The agency is backtracking on controversial recommendations it made last month, reportedly over the advice of agency scientists.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now says that close contacts of people with Covid-19 should be tested, regardless of whether they have symptoms —
reversing controversial recommendations it made last month, reportedly over the advice of agency scientists.

CDC's testing guidelines now bluntly counsel people who have been within six feet of a person "with documented SARS-CoV-2 infection" for at least 15 minutes to get screened.
"You need a test," reads the latest version of the document, released Friday.

"Due to the significance of asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic transmission, this guidance further reinforces the need to test asymptomatic persons, including close contacts of a person
with documented SARS-CoV-2 infection," the guidance also says.

The agency came under fire from public health experts last month when it altered its testing guidelines to stop promoting testing to most asymptomatic people with extended exposure to
someone with a confirmed infection. It left the decision about whether to test such people to state and local public health officials and health providers.

"This is not the first time Redfield has been at the heart of a controversy over the government's response to a virus epidemic. In the early 1990s, Redfield, then one of the Army's top AIDS researchers, was at the center of a scandal over a purported HIV vaccine. Allegations that Redfield oversold data and cherry-picked results sparked an internal Army investigation into his work.
The Army ultimately did not charge Redfield with scientific misconduct. But interviews with former colleagues with direct knowledge of the investigation, and a review of internal documents suggest Redfield knew he was misrepresenting the data behind the vaccine, even as he publicly touted its results— an effort that ultimately helped garner millions in federal funds for further testing.
Redfield was also found to be in violation of Army code over his relationship with a conservative AIDS nonprofit run by a prominent evangelical activist who has promoted abstinence-only solutions to the disease ."

For your own benefit, check a few different states policies on testing, see if they match up

    VG doesn't understand science.
He thinks it's some kind of Belief, like Scientology or something.

Don't waste your time on him.

Covid testing guidelines are published seperately by each states Public Health Director

Here is Californias as an example

    Updated COVID-19 Testing Guidance

Gives away how clueless you all are about your own government

None of you even bothered to check the CDC website, it tells you to check your own state health department website for testing guidelines

  13. Sadly the poor dark skin people are the sickest to begin with as they can't afford good nutrition and health care and supplements to help them......

But there are a lot of sick whites...lazy ...

  14. I have no interest whatsoever to be tested,,,,I know I'm healthy.

So basically you are trying to imply every state relies on their own scientists without any interaction with other state's scientists... because this all started with you not understanding science.

Either that, or you got nuthin'

    Obvious troll is obvious.

No, you don't seem to have a clue about the CDCs authority. CDC doesn't have any authority over the HHS or State health departments

And there is no such thing as a scientific review process for policy papers. The CDC director, who is a scientist himself, signed off on the initial policy change

A whole bunch of people just fell hook Line and sinker for a NYTs story that got parrotted around a bunch of left wing media sites, the CDC has now switched it back because it got too much attention, but it's still largely irrelevant as the states formulate their own guidelines

I gave you all an example of California dropping priority of asymptomatic close contact cases back in August, 6 weeks before this nonsense.

Just keep throwing the word "science" or "experts" into your posts, so they sound like they mean something

France uncovers mutant, fast-moving COVID-19 strains

Mutant strains of COVID-19 that are more contagious, but less serious, have turned up in France, possibly explaining why Europe is reporting a spike in confirmed cases.

The chief of a leading French research hospital revealed the discovery to French lawmakers last week, the Sunday Times of London reported.

Microbiologist Didier Raoult, who heads IHU Méditerranée Infection in Marseilles, told senators that the hospital’s infectious disease experts found seven coronavirus mutations during an analysis of COVID-19 tests over the summer.

One strain, Raoult theorized, was brought in by people coming from North Africa after France lifted its lockdown in June. The mutation has now disappeared, though others have popped up, the outlet reported.
