  1. Yes, and Disturbed won a grammy for their rendition of the Sounds of Silence. What's right isn't always popular and what's popular isn't always right.

Nothing I described would make us socialist.

So Republicans stereotype anything that causes us to become kinder, gentler, and saner as socialism, and therefore we can no longer be any of these things. WONDERFUL. Good luck with that. I won't be voting for your nominee. 4 more years it is as far as I'm concerned.

Don't complain to us when the Orange Guy celebrates his next inaugural.

Disturbed won a Grammy? I didn't expect that.

  4. How absurd. I suggest that a great society is a cooperative, thoughtful, and kind society...and I'm told we can't have it, because people are afraid of socialism. If cooperation, consideration, and kindness are socialist, count me in.

The thing is that Americans deserve more credit. We're not all agog over capitalism and its icons. Maybe the ones with the loudest mouths are, so you get that impression. Socialism doesn't scare us. And the Republican party has to do more than call people names and degrade and stereotype people to get our votes. Contrary to popular fear, bullies are not beloved. They're by and large reviled.

I think deep down a lot of Republicans are even a little bit repulsed by Trump, though they're not about to vote Democrat. Unless the nominee is Bernie Sanders.

Bernie Sanders is the most wonderful person who has ever existed. He deserves to be President, because he is the only one willing to go the distance to protect us from the vultures that are picking at our bones. Making billions off the deaths of millions. Then again, maybe the office of the Presidency has sunk so low that it's actually beneath him.

While those are all dramatically important attributes, I would suggest that we try to see what America has been in our past as well as what we want it to be for the future. Let me provide an example from my life. There's a petitioner at Target. Wants me to sign to put something about rent control on the ballot. Well I'll be fucked if I know what a good position is to take on rent control! l0l :) I don't want to pay too much rent! But if you cap rent, what happens to landlords? That is really where I should ask myself how to handle/where to stand on an issue.

So, why is rent control controversial? I mean, landlord can go stuff it.. :D I don't want to pay. But that may not be right. And if you start painting everything about saving money, aren't you eventually shooting yourself in the foot? I feel like this issue should not go onto the ballot because people do not understand why it's important that landlords maintain a certain amount of control over how much money they may charge for their property. :(

I wish I wouldn't have just typed that out, but that's apparently American. I think it's fucked if I'm honest. I don't like what I just wrote. I hate it! I want rent control so that there's a cap on what a motherfucker pays to live where he lives!

So I guess I don't know shit, Neon. Sorry if I wasted your time.

  6. Well, obviously, one must always look to the past and future. I suppose there's nothing we can really do about the people with personality disorders who are actually running the country and determining the course of our lives, though. We can't kill them.

Because if you make life a living hell for landlords, there will be fewer land owners willing to rent out their housing units. Meaning there will be few homes to lease out. If a landlord can’t kick out a shitty tenant for not paying rent on time (or even at all), why would anyone want to become a landlord?

I thought about renting out the spare bedroom in my house for a roommate, but then the state passed some crazy strict landlord laws. Now I’m not willing to take the risk.

Good Call. Some NIMBY activists see rent control as a way to discourage rentals because it will be unprofitable for the property owner.
A town here has almost no rentals. the law will prevent construction of garden apartments.

    .
But what's popular wins elections. As Bismarck put it:"Politics is the art of the possible". Winning elections is the precondition to making these good things happen.

True. They're all worthy goals, but vague. The devil is in the details. Obama said: "This is still a country that is less revolutionary than it is interested in improvement. They like seeing things improved. But the average American doesn't think that we have to completely tear down the system and remake it." I agree.

Republicans aren't the only ones who used the word "Socialist". Bernie has used it too. 14 things Bernie Sanders has said about socialism Actually, he isn't one, but has that label, which I think is unfortunate. It will haunt him in the coming campaign.

Be that way! The classic case of making the perfect the enemy of the better. You can sit out the rest of your life without voting, or even hold your breath until you turn blue, but it won't change political realities.

Trump appointed judge of the DC circuit just made statements which indicate she will not allow Congress to have access to Mueller's Grand Jury information. She cited a 1993 decision. Another Republican appointee indicated support for her line of thinking. It looks like these Republican appointed judges are willing to use the law to protect Republican criminals from Congressional investigations. William Barr has already proven that he will use the Justice Department to cover up crimes by important Republicans. Naturally, if the Democrats win in November of 2020, well the Republican Crime Agenda will be dismantled piece by piece by an honest Democrat.

  14. Total bullshit.

No one said anything about tearing down the system and remaking it. That's just his way of pigeonholing popular programs that he isn't for because he wants to line his pockets with special interests money.

    Americans aren't scared of socialism.

Voting for the lesser of two evils works out really great. Enjoy Trump.

Eric Swalwell ripped ass on national television and the internet is having a blast with it. Look up "fartgate"

I'm actually disappointed that he was the 1st in the democrat clown car to jump out of the race. He's such a dork, and it would've been more comical to see the left-wing Jeb Bush on stage a little bit longer.

Your arrested adolescence is showing. Farts are a big deal now? Actually, Swallwell is one of the better informed, articulate young politicians in the country, which may be why he hasn't garnered more support.
