You don't recall protests during the Iraq War?

If one doesn't put their heart, and soul into a protest, then I agree it doesn't do any good.

    See MeAgain's post above.

And what did that accomplish? I am talking about a protest where a politician feels like he is vulnerable to losing his seat. For example, LBJ did not run for reelection in 1968 because he knew he would lose because of his Vietnam policy.
See, the protests of the sixties got people thinking, and the tide turned against the war.

Nothing which was kinda my point. Young people don't protest because we've never seen it actually work.

Ok. So they did accomplish something.

I think it was one of the Berigan Brothers who lost his legs on railroad tracks while protesting the Death Train which carrier nukes. I took part in that protest back in 1980 … I think.

Yes to your last question, but my mom doesnt sit around griping about the younger generations with blinders on either. Not all baby boomers are created equal.

You really didnt hear about the Occupy protests? Iraq war protests? Very recently, the worldwide extinction rebellion protests? Protests against Trump's border policy and inhumane detainment? Protests on Trump's inauguration day? Ferguson protests? I'm sure I'm missing some.
    Where have you been.

I was at the one in Los Angeles. One of the largest crowds in the country. I was at a smaller one, in Los Angeles, the day after his election.

And yet the only protests you've heard recently is when youtube is down..
..even though you were at a protest recently.
    Okay.

The okay boomer thing is a reaction to this attitude by the way, so often displayed by baby boomers, that young people only care about instagram and their smart phones and have no social conscious. And that they're only poor because of avocado toast, and that they could afford college if only they worked a little harder, despite college being subsidized when boomers were in college.
And they continue this attitude despite being presented with evidence to the contrary

I'm with you buddy. Boomers are much more the enemy than the occasional Trumpist millennial.

But my avocado toast bill is getting out of hand.

    Well it IS delicious

  18. Not this boomer (by 3 years). Not only did I have to pay for my own college, I didn't get the GI Bill, they were pushing some low interest plan that I had to pay into. It was a decade after I got out that I finally went to college. So my whole career is time-shifted by about 12 years. But I'm ready for Fortran to make a comeback, I'll be set for life!!!!

For the record I married a Gen-X and our kid is a Gen-Z. I made sure their careers were more timely. Since they're both smarter than me, college is not costing as much!

  19. That's lucky.
Here in australia most courses at university and tafe have HECS fees attatched to them.

The protest I mentioned above where a man lost his legs on the tracks was in 1987 and the name was Willson. It was in California, a couple years after the Colorado event.
