  1. Bloom has a lot more money than Trump and a longer political pedigree. He's almost as viable as Biden was before he kicked his Rain Man act into full gear. As for polls, I don't have much faith in those since they let Hillary down so badly, on election night!

I can't think of a single liberal I've met whose been excited for Bloomberg. I think republicans are more likely to equate business prowess with governance prowess.

I turned down an SRE job in New York at Bloomberg last year. If he became president I might regret it.

I don't give much credence to polls either, but thought this was interesting.
I've heard that trump fears Bloomberg because of the money thing.

  5. In a war of dollars, Bloomberg can afford more and better hit men than Trump. That's why the other candidates don't scare him, they're trading in the hundreds of thousands for favors. Bloomberg, like Trump, trades in the millions. Bloomberg can afford to buy away loyalties from Trump and leave him stranded, alone. Trump would have to work with lower tier talent, mistakes would be made, everything would collapse. And it wouldn't cost Bloomberg 1/3 of his assets.

It's the grease in the gears. More grease, bigger gears.

    Ish.

I mean, can regular people become president? If you're not a billionaire then you have to have billions in campaign money. Its really rigged in favor of the rich. We're all raised to believe that anyone (even us) can be president, but can we?

Did you hear about, or see the add that Yang did? Not a good visual(X rated politics).
I would venture to guess that he just lost the vote of the bible thumpers.

Are you talking about the whipped cream thing? I was appalled when I read articles about it. Then I saw the actual video and realized it was a lot more innocent than people were making it out to be.

  12. It's weird the stuff people choose to be butthurt about these days. I saw it as well and it just seemed like something you'd see at a family dinner or picnic. But NOOOOOO, it simply MUST be attached to some kind of "metaphor" for something totally unrelated because there's a 1.015% chance, that Yang was making a sexually oppressive gesture. Oh the horror.

If we have a massive recession that kicks off a decades-long depression, all of these kinds of petty "problems" will evaporate into concerns about fuel and food shortages. Most of our social issues will become very simple and academic. Right now, oddly enough, we're enjoying peace and prosperity, which makes things like fretting over pronouns and the color of people's hats easy to mistake for viable problems.

    It's Trump's to lose.

I blame the Greatest Generation. No seriously. The US is exactly how it is supposed to be. No Nazis, no fascists, no world domination, no depression...then their votes made civil rights a thing. I always find it funny when older people complain about how soft younger generations are. It's like, dude, your dad literally fought a war to make sure the biggest problems in my life are bathrooms and pronouns

Admittedly I did not see it, but was told about it by a conservative girl that I know. While she was appalled by it, she thought it was funny.

I mean, it was weird ish. But it wasn't nearly as disturbing as people acted like it was. Basically, a politician did something and the proponents were like "let's make a scandal out of this!"

  16. A bit of humor from 1977 when Richard Pryor had a prime time show. This was a bit about the first black president........

Yes, meeting a large payroll is a large acomplishment. Understanding money, and the economy is a key skill. we were previously burdened by a community organizer and our economy suffered.

One does not have to be 'excited' by a candidate to appreciate money savy and organizational savy. One can build a white house staff without relying upon party brahmins who bring their own baggage to the table.

I'm not like a Chris Matthews looking for a "tingling feeling" from candidates. Politicians are not superheros and arch-villans. Attaching emotional commitment is not my thing.

Your underlying premise is inaccurate, the economy isn't substantially better than it was during the Obama administration, his economy is simply continuing the expansion which began in 2010.
