Not all unsavory types have been kept out. The Trump family is here. And by the by--this country was once empty of humans including native Americans. I don't think the blowhard prick will win in 2020--time will tell.

 

We probably should start a thread about Andrew Johnson. I wonder just how many people here have a clue as to what happened, all the nuances involved. They were actually called the War Democrats

Back in the day, & well before I was alive the word republican was for a different set of causes - as was the word democrat. At some point along the line they switched! I don't know at what point in time though...

Contrary to normie beliefs, not all movie stars live in LA. Many of them live in different parts of the country and just have a rental unit when they’re working locally in LA. Some have numerous homes across the world. Bruce Campbell has a huge estate not too far from my home for example.

If I wanted to be reminded of all the wrongdoings of our political leaders, I would turn on the news, go online, or read the paper. I go to the movies to escape the ugliness of politics and current events for a while. Not to be beaten over the head about how the president is an idiot, or the US flag is a fascist symbol, etc. I don’t give a shit about the opinions of Hollywood celebrities. Just go on stage and entertain us and stfu

 

I was kinda just trolling you. I don't care enough to care. I like watching movies same as everyone but I don't understand watching award shows as some form of entertainment. it's like okurr, you did good at your job and now you get a little award for it. and?

 

I just think it's funny when people act like the political talk is why they dont tune in and watch awards shows

I think it's funny when people say they don't want the political opinion of a celebrity, and then turn around and give you their political opinion. Like no one else is allowed to discuss politics?

 

I think their point is people look up to and follow these celebrities...

As I began to pull away from the haze that was my twenties the one outstanding role model effortlessly exceeding expectations in the background was him. I can't say that I was truly motivated during that time in my life, but I recognized immediately that something had changed for the better by having that man in the White House.

When people complain about him, I remember the Tea Party and all of the anger I could never quite get over. Not because I had energy on politics; I didn't. But because I saw what it did to people. The people who opposed him, and I don't mean on TV I'm talking about people on the street, were bigoted. I could feel it in my very being and it made my blood boil. The community that I called home was amuck with hatred. & with their leaders mindlessly blocking every move Obama made they were empowered.

I didn't know until after the fact that they were doing that; blocking him. He resorted to executive orders when nothing could get through the thick meaningless heads in the Tea Party leadership. Some of those people are still around. What's worse, they're proud. It's disgusting. they only sought to stymie policy in the name of progress.




@onceburned, I'm not entirely sure how you figure Obama is the snake here. He was the one trying to provide American's with healthcare. Do you not see the message? It was a gesture. Something meaningful, and a legacy. He implemented green initiatives as well. We studied about it in Environmental Policy class in college. Obama's presidency was nothing to blow your nose at.

 

I'm wondering why a left leaning person is by definition a hypocrite if they're rich.
