I've been reading Lode's posts for more than a year. He's never posted anything which indicates stupidity; but, Trump's supporter have done so repeatedly.

Yang's big plan to fund UBI was to tax Amazon, Google, Facebook more.

The overused statement that Amazon don't pay taxes is simply never true. They get massive federal tax rebates so they keep more operations inside your country.

People hearing the much touted the richest 1% own how ever much % of the world's "wealth" and believing that is just misunderstanding what that actually means. You can only tax revenue, not a company's assets, infrastructure

Revenue gets paid out in share dividends to pension funds, wealth funds etc which are taxed anyway

There is just simply not enough revenue per from these companies to fund UBI Yang's way

The only real way to fund UBI would be to go after wealthy retirees assets and liquidate them

....and you already have a VAT, double that and you just end up in the same trouble as Europe. Sales taxes are regressive, the poor end up paying a higher percentage

Any regressive tax has the opposite effect of trying to tax the wealthy more

 

More specifically, if I know what's going to happen. There is a lot of fun to be had

Oh sure, taxes totally benefits society to have a Shitty quality one-size-fits-all approach to heathcare. A public education system that forces kids to pledge their allegiance to the flag, and teaches them that Columbus discovered America. A broken war-on-poverty system that incidentally keeps people poor by design. An oversized military that agresses in foreign lands to provide profits the corporate class. A government that spys on our every move through our laptops and smartphones. A police force that locks up harmless criminals who commit victimless crimes. Sounds great to me - taxes are wonderful
