Yes, there was a lot of evidence floating around that as the report 3 weeks beforehand said, "Al Queda determined to strike American soil" and hell they did it once back in the 90's with the garage bomb, remember 9/11 wasn't the 1st time the trade centers were attacked. Maybe, just maybe, with lack of specific evidence saying THEY'RE GOING TO FLY PLANES INTO THE TRADE CENTER ON 9/11 that a good deal of the American government too had the mindset that nothing like that could happen on American soil

And what about the Mexican American war? Mexico warned right from the start of Texas independence that is the US allowed Texas to join the union it would be war. Mexico broke diplomatic relations with us right when Texas was annexed as Mexico never recognized Texas indepence and considered it a break away province. Border disputes kept flaring up over what the border really was, the US claimed the Rio Grande(since this had been the republic of Texas's claim), Mexico claimed the Nueces. We tried to buy the Rio Grande border along with Mexico's western lands, but Mexico didn't want to sell and this just raised nationalistic fuels on both sides. America moved troops into the disputed land, a Mexican detatchment attacked them, i.e. the Thornton affair, and war was declared. Palo Alto always gets the general view at the 1st battle of the Mexican American war, but not really.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thornton_Affair
And in the end we still wound up paying Mexico about 55% of our original offer on their land that we had first offered.

So what about the Mexican-American war again?

even if it were true that "they just didnt believe it could happen" does NOT in ANY WAY make it acceptable. while it is less tyranical to think that way, negligence is negligence.

people go to jail for negligence when they kill ONE person, let alone TWO FUCKING THOUSAND

i still doubt that they "just couldn't believe it wouldn't happen" - there was a motive to allow it to happen and there was a LOT to gain for few very powerful people if it did happen (and they did gain a lot, and are still gaining)

the mexican-american war was started when the US army was moved onto the very border of the buffer zone making it look like we were invading. the mexican army fired at them and that was used as incentive to get congress to declare war

9/11 - civilians were allowed to be killed to get the country riled up and prepared to fight a misinformed and unjust holy war

While I consider the lion's share of what you've said here to be spot on and an encouraging sign that there are some folks with working minds and the willingness to use them I must differ with this small point... politicians have never worked for us- sure, during campaigns they make it seem like they have our best interests at heart but the sum total of the past three decades of American Politics and policy is to cede more and more to corporate interests, whom the political system serves. Under the guise of economic stimulus and job creation regulations have been relaxed if not outright removed allowing corporate entities to commit what used to be crimes- price fixing, price gouging, and all manner of racketeering that would make a mafia don blush.

How is it for instance that American Automakers have been allowed to protest calls for more efficient cars on the assumption that research, re-engineering, retooling, would be prohibitively expensive as to render the big three unable to compete in the world market while our commander-in-chimp Bush gave his annual rhetoric about our addiction to oil- all meant to placate an easily pacified public while the Japanese were manufacturing cars that were capable of getting 50 mpg for at very least the past decade? trust me, I drove my '99 Civic from Maine to Connecticut... controlled my speed (no cruise control) and got 50.8... driving 55-60 mph.

Our government is not looking out for us in the least and we can blame ourselves... at very least the past couple generations of voting age adults for being so busy pretending to be wealthy that all manner of legislation has slipped through making the taxpayer the bitch of big corporations. Last year oil giants began systematically robbing the working class- using the speculator as the primary tool and our government didn't do jack shit about it.

Now, we're finally getting some standard of efficiency with future cars- yet while gushing about how it's going to save us money, the maniacally smiling "Stretch" Pelosi knows that not only the federal government and most states will need to figure out how to make up the expected tax shortfall- most likely by imposing a road use tax assessed by mileage tabulated by GPS systems that will be standard equipment on the newer, more efficient cars. Most will see their savings evaporate right there.

The fact is that unless proven otherwise, everything that comes from a politician's mouth or pen is a lie. The only use I have for campaign speeches is that they serve as an approximate litmus test for how stupid the candidates think we are... and I seriously doubt that we disappoint them.

Did you read any of that? You just ignored years of history that lead up to that.

What was there to gain? And really if they let this terrorist attack happen, well then I guess the tube bombings in London, Bali, well you know every big terrorist attack that's ever happened was just allowed to happen.

negative - the point was that there were similar tactics to make it seem like war was necessary to happen. that is why i brought it up in the first place

surely you aren't going to tell me that the Bush administration DIDN'T have strong ties to haliburton and other oil companies...

you are saying a lot, but at the same time not saying much at all

stink - i agree in that the government has their own agenda and they really DONT work for us. but the reason they were put there was so that they COULD work for us. point being - there are more of us than there are them, they should listen to what we fucking want and dont want. it's only a matter of willpower within the nations population to make them do as such

Yes, and millions of people, investors, and ect have strong links to haliburton. But exactly what is the claim for Iraq's oil wealth. Yes these companies make money building the infrastructure there for the Iraqi's and such, but all profit from oil money in Iraq as before and after the war goes to the Iraqi government. Anyone who went to economics 101 could say if it was really all about oil Bush would've just found a way to repeal the bans on offshore drilling and Haliburton would've made a shit more money instead

Both sides were itching for a fight and had good reason to in the Mexican American war, only the US with no real good reason was itchin for a fight in this war.

Our job as far as the political gamers are concerned is to pay our taxes, vote, selecting from the list of party groomed candidates (groomed and corrupted are interchangeable terms here), pay our taxes, shut up, pay our taxes, be distracted by the trash that is pop culture, listen to the "facts" that are preselected by the media for our consumption, including expending our stores of outrage at the disappearance of a little girl from a town we've never heard of before, shut up and pay our taxes.

It is mostly the corporate interests and elite that bankroll campaigns that would otherwise have to come from a candidates personal funds and in exchange for this favor the elected official is beholding to the interests of them and NOT the voter/taxpayer- whom the power elite look at about the same as you and I look at a herd of cattle. Ideally they should do what we say but there are other voices that drown ours out with their money and influence. The only way that government will do any more than pay insulting lip service to our collective interests over that of the big money is if their own best interests depended on it... and we don't have that type of power and until the entire system is dismantled we will have zero chance of getting it.

so i guess im gonna have to be the one to say it. 9-11 isnt shit. so what? "oh my god a bunch of americans were killed in 9-11"!! boo hoo. ok that may be true, but. how many have been killed every day for the last 15-20 years in Jerusalem (from both sides) and turkey and iran and iraq. 9-11 is no big deal to me. you may think im being insensitive but im just being realistic

    epic fail.

i hope you don't live in the US. even if you don't approve of everything the gov does, that's no reason to be disrespectful to those who have died.

for someone who has allegedly fought to defend the american flag, you'd think they would have a little bit more respect for it, and little bit more respect for the people that DO have respect for it.

I used to be pretty quick to shout "inside job" or something to that effect. You can't take something like this at face value. I was wholeheartedly convinced that our government had something to do with these attacks, but when it comes down to it, none of us posses enough information to prove our government had any part in these attacks. There are way too many variables. It's also important to consider the fact that the information we receive from the internet is only telling half the story. We can jump to conclusions all we want, but there's still no solid evidence. I think if anything, there was ample warning about these attacks but our government ignored it. I do think that we're not getting the whole story on the Pentagon attack. It's blatantly obvious that a 747 did not crash into the side of the building. What did crash into the Pentagon? No fucking clue. There's no way for any of us to know based on the crappy 4 frame video that was released supposedly proving it was a plane.

There's a lot of mystery surrounding these events and I'm guessing it'll be a VERY long time before the people know all the details of what really happened. All I know, is when that time comes I won't be living in the US of fucking-A.
