just make sure you understand how the mainstream RAP scene is no different from tarded pop music, however the true soulful hiphop culture that lurks the underground non-commercial roads is revolutionary in the same way as jazz was, unlike rap. jazz was i guess the start of conscious poetry in a sense, great minds letting the people know what _really_ goin on in the world. And that torch was carried on by hiphop, but later commercialized way too heavily and it divided into different parts. The one with the most soul, the realest, has stayed the most underground. Now you have fricken kanyes and 50's and eminems and lil'waynes and whoever "defining" hiphop in the eye of the mainstream...while they're just bullshit rappers.

hiphop was a vehicle of stopping the violence...just like jazz was back in the 60s..back in the 30's. what did gangsta rap turn that into? ..at some point and in some places it was either grab a mic or grab a pipe...(or grab a can)

some 'new' goodness, keepin to the roots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxRGNsJX0OA&feature=related

'mom always told me to be no fool, life's gonna be cruel, still let love rule.

Did you really call Eminem a Bullshit rapper? His newest album sucks, but his old albums are masterpieces. I agree that Li'l Wayne sucks, and to be fair 50 cent's first album was pretty good...

 okay bud im not here to entertain your little attention fit

"I hate hiphop, but the one white dude I know in hiphop is the best, obviously!"

I dislike Eminem, personally. Kanye is legit dude. Graduation and 808 are no good, but Kanye has talent. College Dropout and ALte Registration were bad ass albums and he still has good instrumentals.

the dude in that video thatamybird posted is a fuckin idiot

dreadlocksftw, you're obviously likin a slightly newer generation or finding something likeable from the mainstream names, which is ok, some werent completely shit when they got into the game, but nonetheless...if you're the kind of person that lets yourself sell out, that already reflects in the music and I was feelin what's gonna happen to those cats like 7 years ago and that's how it pretty much went with them. Kanye has talent yes, talent for making pop hits. 50 wasn't AS bad as he got the very moment he got signed to a major, but he's another POP RAPPER. eminem sucks at rapping, the oldest freestyles and shit deserve some respect, but he was just a clever lyricist/poet. his delivery, his flow, his voice..everything...is bullcrap in MY opinion. then he went big and pop and fcked the little he had up too. there's a big difference between rap and hiphop nowadays...some smartasses will now jump out and say that rap is an element of hiphop, but those roads departed a while ago, they took rap a s a way of singing and went gangsta and pop with it.

but cant hate, all bout feelin it and feelin good. like one be lo said...
"it aint all about economy, so the fact that all these whack emcees are makin g's don't bother me, honestly, my number one policy is quality, never sell my soul is my philosophy"

    that line sums it up.

lol phen, kanye is more real than you are givin him credit for, he has gone off on his own shit (which pop music crowd gravitate towards) it isn't him catering to his fans - cause trust me if he did, youd be hearing some hot shit like from College Dropout. And that's why I respect Kanye - he does his own thing whether you like it or not.

he's good, and honestly prolly one of the betters in the game right now

if you mean "one of the betters in the hiphop game" then im speechless.

he's got talent yeah, talent to entertain and make hits, but his instrumentals sure as hell aren't very dope if you ask me, neither can he flow properly. or god forbid write meaningul lyrics.

but well no need to argue over taste, i like my shit different, different than kanye thats for sure. but yeah he's better than alot of the mainstream...just still, he's just a pop-ish mediawhore rapper in my eyes.

    but to each their own

what difference does it make who he rolled with. thats almost like wearing dope clothes and bringing that as an argument that youre good. and to be fair not many of those old legendary cats are making good shit anymore. i listen to the music not the name

i dont want to sound like what i listen to is 'the best' or some bullshit..i'm just sayin Kanye aint that dope in my eyes.

i listen to ALOT of stuff, too many to start pulling out names, but i got my shit straight when i heard Pharcyde like 6-7 years ago. my hearts in the oldschool and golden era sound, but alot of dope shit been comin out past years...like blu & exile for an example. some say their first album Below the Heavens is the new Illmatic. which is ofcourse a stupid thing to say, but blu kills it there nevertheless.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eePmH_mQmqs Jazz liberators with fatlip (previously from the Pharcyde) ..some new shit from him. good ol golden era sound

but yeah we can be pullin out names later if its important

    some classic pharcyde https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co3qMdkucM0&feature=fvst

runnin' ..yall gotta remember that one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hZKN4AZ63g&feature=related

similar taste as mine...i don't see how you can say kanye is 100% mainstream. he is mainstream in that he gets a lot of attention, but the only reason he ever got attention in the first place is because he was kickin some good shit back in the day. if it weren't for his true ass ability he never would have been rollin with talib (which was my point)

if it werent for talib he wouldnt have been anywhere near where he is now. talib gave kanye the stage that jay-z didn't and his shit blew up into what it is now (not good, but he is still successful in what he does)

im not saying kanye is a king or anything , but he surely is to be grouped in with REAL hiphop rather than the nonsense spewin wayne and shit because he has PROVEN that he DOES have talent - whether you agree or not is based largely on your own taste, but hiphop (real hiphop) artists have given their appreciation to kanye

ok so i typed in kanye west into youtube out of boredom and to listen to some after ages, and the first thing to pop up was kanye west featurin t-pain something. alarm went off. nah though, i get what you mean and understand, but there's just something big missing from his tracks..and i mean the older tracks...the new shit from him dont get any respect from me whatsoever.

like, the track CLASSIC with krs one, rakim and nas and kanye..what a fricken lineup eh, and kanye was just so shit on it if you ask me, cant believe he went with that verse...just a random example, it was kind of a breaking point for me to give up on him.

he does have talent though compared to the other cats ..that hes even featuring for some (ching ching) reasons. but he's goin at it the completely wrong way for keeping it real...and well he probably knows that and so on...so yeah. all good, his choice. still think he sold his soul so to speak.

well, theres one thing to know that kanye gets more attention from his instrumentals for a reason. some of his lyrics are hot as fuck (Get Em High?) but they dont have anything on his production style
