I don't hate Republicans, men like John McCain and the other Rep. Senators who stopped the nuclear option prove they're aren't all crazy like Bush

Tutoring is a more effective way of learning particular facts than self study. While studying by onesself is a better education (you learn not only the facts but also how to learn) substituting tutoring for study in the library will bring an increase in grades.

On the other hand, both the OP and mine are analogies. Pushing the details of the story looses the point.

In the OP, the daughter was asked to give her earned benifits to someone undeserving (partying instead of studying). I wanted to set up a scenerio where the difference in result (4.0 GPA vs. 2.0) was not a result of different effort, but was a result of differing initial conditions. (Because of her father's money, Daughter can study all the time, Sally must spend her time both studying and earning money.)

I think Pikachu was saying that Republicans are opposed to taking money from the those who earned it and giving it to the undeserving. I was asking for a conservative responce to the situation where initial conditions created the different results.

If Daughter were to give her grade points to Mary (the partying one), conservatives would see that as bad for society. How would they view Daughter giving up grade points in order to help Sally? No one has answered that.

...at least I don't hide behind hypocritical fake niceties. Look at your post and tell me it isn't completely hypocritical and contradictary. Shouldn't be too hard to do with that big IQ of yours.

Hope you enjoy the 1500 shipments of Fernald's nuclear waste we just started shipping to your fine state. The first truck should arrive today or tomorrow. Better you than us.

Hmm sounds like a certain administration whose mindset you clearly echo. Let's see, umm oh we're under threat from a destitute nation. It has WMDs...okay well it doesn't have WMDs, but its leader is a bad man (they say whilst shaking hands and pouring out the big bucks to other more preferable despots)...

Then of course we get firsthand exposes of the extent of the administration's own internal corruption and what's the response? Character smear, character smear, character smear. Response to the actual facts of the matter, zero.

Three words for you, little hardline neocon whiner... "Pot Kettle Black".

Neocons wouldn't know, or acknowledge rational arguments, however well founded, if they bit them on the ass. That much has been made perfectly clear as the modus operandi of the Rove muckraker press factory for years.

Why does authorship of that story (or any story) merit death?

wow...the majority of you on here can be so childish when it comes to dealing with people who are DIFFERENT THAN YOU ARE.

I dont particularly like what Republicans believe in, and I don't agree with it to any extent at all... but to say "republicans fucking suck" is childish. Someone's political ideals doesn't necessarily show you what kind of person they are... For example, I'm a liberal democrat, and my dad is Republican... we get into heated discussions, and I don't agree with him at ALL when it comes to politics... but aside from that he's an AMAZING, caring person. He's got a great set of morals...
I point out the morals bit, because I noticed a lot of you on here seem to generalize republicans to the extent of actually believing that they are horrible people or have horrible morals. And, that's not true. Not always, anyway.

    Where's the peace?

As far as I see it, a lot of you whom consider yourself a liberal democrat don't seem to live the way you preach... If you want the world to be equal, then you have to start accepting everyone and their differences and TREAT them equally.

I understand a heated debate.... but in this forum I notice a lot of you take it way beyond that and result to name calling of the opposing side, and more so generalizing and stereotyping.

Anyway I understood the point of the story... It doesn't completely relate to money or politics though... But, I get it, and it sure as hell is a good analogy I suppose.

And I didn't really look at the names of people who posted such things, so if it was only one person or a couple, then I'm sorry for saying "most of you" please don't take it to offense. Thanks <3

I think you need to stop and look at why these people are poor. first off, the same social programs you like have resulted in nothing but more poor people. They have become accustomed to living off the system so why should they get a job? They will eat regardless. Second, most poor dont have much education or enough education or special training to make them valuable to the workplace. You cannot blame being poor for not receiving an education. Even a simple high school diploma is worth somthing. Compare the salaries of the kids that drop out as compared to the kids who dont, and tell me what you find.

I think instead of throwing money at the problem and hoping it will go away, you should set up programs to try to level the playing field. GA has a scholarship paid for by the lotto that gives anyone with a B in high school a scholarship to college. You dont have to be "rich" or even "middle class" to try.

And why should the "rich and successful" be punished because someone didnt make an effort in their life? Why should someone be forced to give up half of their hard earned money, against their will? There are charities set up people like you can donate too. No matter what spin you put on it, robbing people of their hard earned money is wrong and is doing nothing but growing the poverty problem in this country. you look like a rat to al

I seriously suggest you read "Nickel and Dimed" by Barbara Ehrenreich. Hopefully then you'll understand that poor people work (very hard in fact), are often educated, and still end up sleeping in their cars or not being able to feed their children. This whole "blaming the victim" concept of poverty is wrong and does nothing to help poverty.

No one is asking for rich people (not all of whom really "worked for it", BTW) to give up half of their money. But is it unreasonable to think, "Hey, I'm enjoying a really comfortable way of living-I have so much money to spare, maybe I can use some of it to help people less fortunate than me"?

NO, I DONT THINK I WANNA READ THAT BOOK. LETS USE MY DAD AS AN EXAMPLE INSTEAD. HE GREW UP WITH 12 BROTHERS AND SISTERS AND HAD TO SELL FRUIT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN HE WAS 8 YEARS OLD TO HELP HIS FAMILY MAKE ENDS MEANS. NO ONE TOLD HIM ABOUT GOING TO COLLEGE OR EDUCATING HIMSELF BUT HE DID IT CAUSE HE DIDNT WANNA LIVE LIKE THAT ANYMORE. GUESS WHAT? HES A U.S. ATTORNEY NOW. WHY SHOULD HE OR ANYONE ELSE WHO DECIDED TO GET OFF THEIR ASS AND MAKE SOMETHING OF THEMSELVES HAVE TO GIVE MONEY TO ANYONE? PLEASE EXPLAIN THAT TO ME. DO YOU GIVE MONEY TO THE POOR? MAYBE YOU SHOULD SELL YOUR COMPUTER IF YOU FEEL SO STRONGLY ABOUT HELPING THEM

we have things like financial aid and minority scholarships to help people along who normally would not have a chance at college. what happens to people like me who don't qualify for financial aid? people whose parents dont make enough to live in luxury, but make enough to destroy any chances of financial aid. college makes people poor as well.

Grammatical considerations aside, this is just wrong. Politics isn't just theory. It is the very real messy business of who gets what when where and how, and who's got how much power. It's not a philisophical debate. It determines the path of our society.

A person's politics most definitely show what kind of person they are.
So does how well they tip waiters.

everyone is their own person and has their own view of the world. but when idiots like you want to lump everyone into a "republican" or "democrat" category, a person's true personality cannot be determined.

You're father was lucky. And I respect the fact that he did work hard. But does that mean everyone from those roots can just get rich by working hard? No. Does that mean that most people from those roots do? No. A lot of people work very hard and still have nothing.

You're saying accusing poor people of sitting on their asses and doing nothing with their lives, which is not true. Yes, some people don't work hard. But does that mean they all don't? No. Absolutely not. Most of them? No.

Here's a reality for you: You're dad is a rare individual. They call the American Dream a dream for a reason. Because it doesn't often come true.

Be grateful for what you have. But don't look down at people who have less than you.

I'm rubber and you're glue, etc, etc.

You are wrong...about a great number of things...but namely:

I rarely think of things as republican / democrat. that's all a big lie propagated to make Americans believe they are still living in a democracy in which they choose their own leaders.

secondly, just your breif statements here do indeed enable me to determine several things about your personality. For example, you're probably uneducated. You're also a blind follower. In fact, you remind me a lot of the sheep from Animal Farm. As a self-professed right winger, you are probably not very compassionate or empathetic. And finally, whether coverty or overty, and possibly even subconsciously, you are probably racist, sexist, and classist.

Mmmm... yeah, that about covers it.
