I have a phobia of them. They are pretty but I can't be in a room with a heavily pregnant woman. I saw a lady's water break when I was in a supermarket many many years ago. It was terrifying I was maybe eight.

    LMAO HDH

I can only imagine how that must have been for you. Lucky for me I was at home both times my waters ruptured and not at Wal-mart LOL

It is pretty hilarious that I admit. Oh my god, we went to a family christmas do and one of my husbands relatives was really pregnant and I had to be in the same room with her and I couldn't leave! I know they're all hormonal and stuff so I can't really say that they scare me and leave, people would think I'm a dick for saying that but yeah...I hate being on buses with them..Pot holes...

beautiful mama! you are going to have a big babe! I was quite a small preggo lady and Riloh was quite small when he was born the doctors were worried. I can't imagine being pregs while having to run after your other kids though-phew, good luck!x

So far my babies are average size. #1 was 8lbs2oz and #2 was 8lbs6oz. Not much of a difference. I don't know weight conversion so those #'s may mean nothing to y'all. I will say that I swell quite a bit in pregnancy and I lose about 40lbs within the 1st week just from all the water retention going away.

I am still buggin my sis for more pics!!

My sis is prego right now and her hubby can't stay away from her boobs. She has to keep telling him that they are no longer for him but for the baby. HAHAHAHA

And HDH, aawwwwww.... that is really kinda weird. lol My waters never broke so just assume that most women's do not. I think it's a small percentage that actually break before labour starts.. .maybe as small as 5-10%. (please don't make me google. lol)

    Yup, baby weights translate.

Mama.... looking good lady! And your babies were on the bigger side... at least I thought 7 lbs was the average... but again, I'm not sure on this.

My son was 6lbs11ozs and 21 inches long. He looked so skinny.

I would consider 8 pounds big but it seems average for your mama, which is good. My cousin had a baby who weighed 10 pounds and she is like 5 feet and probably 100 pounds or under.

I love your photos too, so pretty and soft

I WISH my water didn't break before labor, labor without a bag of waters is much harder. But I labor really fast so that's nice :) I thought 8lbs was pretty average and even 9lbs. I am in the Birth Coalition here and I was part of one in Florida as well and as a breastfeeding counselor I am around lots of new babies and I think 8-9lbs is pretty average these days. At least it has been among those I know. 10lbs is pretty normal for some women but I'd say that it's heavier than average.

I did not know how small a percentage of women's waters rupture prior to labor though it seems like most women I have talked to have had it happen in active labor so that makes sense. I have those tv labors, water breaks, labor starts, BAM the baby is here. Seriously, a 5hr labor with my first and a 3hr labor with my second. I am hoping for like an hour this time :D

Ahhhhh yes, pregnant boobs are fun - tell her to let her dh play with them at least until the baby gets here cause after that she really will make them off limits LOL

loL! I love this thread. I had my waters "taken care of" for both labours. And... well, perhaps we should continue this thread over in the parenting section on HF... you know, the ALternative Lifestyle section. lol

Suffice to say that labour felt great for a second after the waters breaking and then in the next minute I realized that it was only a very small amount of comfort... You are right, no waters = more pain! lol

And can I say, FUCK YOU! about your labours? lol Mine were 13.5 (all back labour) and the second was 17 hours. Yup, it got longer. sigh...

I used to be a bfing mod for a popular baby site and LOVED it!! I'm thinking I will do my doula training at the end of this year as they are offering a course nearby! =) I have always been interseted in labour, but after having mine I knew that it was something I would love to be a part of! A friend asked if I could acompany her and I did and I loved it! Every minute of it! woot woot!

Right on Daisy - the world needs more doulas and genuine, educated, breastfeeding support!!

And I know about my labors...many people give me the finger over that. FWIW my body overproduces relaxin so my babies just kind of fall right out. But it also means that for the last 10 weeks of pregnancy my pelvis is separated in 4 parts, I can't roll over in bed w/o assistance, my pubic bone feels like someone whacked it with a sledgehammer and my hips often feel as though they are about to come out of socket - so I still get mine LOL

I have a question for all the ladies here who have been preggz before...

When you pop the lil bundle of joy out, does the mass stomache go down soon after?
Or is it a slightly more progressive thing, like over a day or two?

after I had Riloh my tummy went way down like a deflated balloon. It felt like all my organs were hanging and I found it hard to breathe. Breast feeding is designed to pull your womb back in so when you first start you can feel your tummy being pulled back in as if people are tugging at strings...I'm still BF but not as often. I love it and don't want to give it up but Riloh is getting a bit bored of it:(I had Riloh all natural it was wonderful everything happened like clockwork. I can be pretty squeemish when it comes to my vaj jay so I was so glad I didn't have to get prodded to break my waters. yeyyy I love talking babies:)

My tummy did not go down like that. In fact, I saw some ppl a few days after having my son and they thought I was still pregnant. The stomach goes much softer and you can.. um, how do you word this... For instance, I could put my arm on my stomach and wrap the loose bits around my arm and hide my arm. Gross. lol When the baby is in there your tummy is pretty close to rock hard, but after having the baby, it doesn't feel like that any longer.

I took non maternity pants to wear home from the hopsital after my first son and instaed I had to waer my maternity dress home! lol It takes quite awhile for your stomach muscles to connect back together and have a "normal" looking stomach again. I'm guessing about three months for me.
