They still make those? well, either way we dont care. You can worship the devil and drink your own blood all you want :2thumbsup:
It's a catch-22. Where society is concerned, I'm a goth. *shrugs* I believe in Taoism, go with the flow. So long as I'm perceived as a goth, I want to make a difference in how a goth is perceived. The term means far too many negative things in addition to positive things. -BlkBks
I happily never felt that urge when 'society' labeled me as a work-shy hippie, lazy stoner or evil metalhead. It's their problem.
Bout the same as listening to the Beatles? lol I wasn't listing reasons why I should be inducted into the halls of Gothdom. I was listing what I listen to. -BlkBks
I had, actually. I don't know why, but it just seems like a natural thing to gravitate to. Skulls and skeletons are trippy and cool. As for Grateful Dead, I was quite shocked when I first heard Jerry Garcia(this was in the nineties). I hadn't imagined the music sounding that way. I expected something closer to Dead Can Dance or Peter Murphy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY85bkZlJk4"]Peter Murphy Cuts You Up (Best Quality!) - YouTube -BlkBks
I really don't think there's much of a difference though, I'd personally never be able to put myself into any one category, i'm a little of each. I love punk and metal music, yet i love reggae and rap and rock, i even like a little bit of country, i pretty much like all music. And when it comes to personalities, i'm usually positive and believe in sending out good vibes, but at the same time there are situations when that is impossible and i have to voice my opinion even if others may dislike it. I really wouldn't know what to classify myself as, but i consider that a good thing, i think i'm much different than most people (especially my peers) where as most people my age just follow the mainstream music and culture, i like to explore past that. And whereas most people my age are completely oblivious to the world around them, i sit and think about politics, corruption, and whats wrong with our world daily. If everyone just became unblinded by the lies we've been told, sat down, found out who we truly are through some deep thinking or meditation, we wouldn't even need these categories because we could all just live in harmony... (': lol (unlikely)
By the way I also love Industrial music. Your comments on Hot Topic Reminded me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26NaGLx6Tdg"]MC Lars- Hot Topic Is Not Punk Rock - YouTube Stay Brown, Rev J
Ahaha, I love this! That's hilarious. Also, a fellow lover of industrial? Well done, sir. You have my respect. Industrial has some great sounds but not enough fans. -BlkBks
i agree completely with those of you who are saying that there's no real difference at all. we're all kind of out there honestly.. and i say that in the most loving way possible :> lots of people would say i'm a confusing sort of goth-punk-hippie hybrid type thing. i never really care to think about it though..
I think labels really should have been left behind in high school. And I must confess, I don't really get the whole white face/thick black eyeliner thing. It just seems like its trying so hard......although really, hippie is the only subculture where you can be branded a hippie because you don't try at all. At least I think thats why people will perpetually call me a hippie; I can't be bothered with make up and most days I can't be bothered to brush my hair. You know what though? I love 80s goth music. Holy shit, phish can kiss my ass. I'll take this over phish any day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4rqbs0vxK0"]All We Ever Wanted Was Everything - YouTube
Oh man, you picked one of my favorites. Long Live Peter Murphy. Completely agree with you on the label thing. But it's a reality whether I wish it was or wasn't. As for the white-face and eyeliner... You mean to tell me you never loved the feeling of dressing up for Halloween? That one night where we got to roleplay as whatever we wanted and not being judged was like magic to me. It was like a freebie, right? Imagine if you couldn't pull yourself from that feeling of being whatever you wanted and not being told that it was ridiculous or unacceptable. Maybe you could, most can, but I couldn't pull away from that feeling. -BlkBks
Misfits. Gorgeous Frankenstein. Blitzkid. Perpetual Halloween. Good guys. Lots of fun to hang out with.
Goth? Who care's bro your cool. I'm a skater kid who wears vans and dresses like a hipster scene kid. It's all good though
I love Blitzkid too. They had one song I really loved, can't think of the name...something in the haunted house. Always welcome some horror-punk. Koffin Kats and the like. Well you guys have good taste in music and are pretty understanding. -BlkBks
