Dude I feel you seriously I'm socially inept to begin so being thrown in an environment with 17,000 other kids (coming from a high school with less than 400) makes things even more difficult. But there's also a good side to it: The school is so big that nobody knows everybody, people are constantly meeting new people...it's also nice to have some space, and not having to say 'hey' to every. single. person. you see.
I'm in the same situation. I've yet to meet a lot of new people. I hung out with my roommate who's a sophmore and he introduced me to some people but I'm not like friends with them or anything. I'm going to join the radio and hopefully meet some cool people from that. Classes just started yesterday so hopefully I can make friends in class.
i went to school all last year and didn't make any friends. more or less some smoking acquaintances. it all depends on how social you wanna be. but 90% of the kids at my school were preppy douche bags, imo.
You've only just got there. It's not just your impressions it what you choose to make of it. Go out and meet loads of people. Join some clubs, do some sports or other activites and you'll meet like minded people. And there's always the people on your course. Good Luck!
yeahh i'd prolly be a little bit too introverted for one. and idk what college is like but it seems like it would be hard to get serious with your school shit if you needed to, surrounded by a bunch of rowdy people. or to smoke pot alone. i can just see all the scavengers now....
